We should tell SAASL about C Cup. Great idea. Maybe do the Cup with all the lower div teams that are not involved already.

I know the idea has been suggested before, I dont know if anyone actually officially approached the SAASL with the idea.
We now have approximately fifty C teams ( not including the O 35's ) playing over each weekend, all we would need would be a couple of people from both the Saturday and the Sunday comp to offer to help the league get it up and running.
Not sure what we would do with the final ? 4 games in one day, the A's Cup Final wouldnt start until about 5pm,if the first game started at 11am.
Unless the O'35s would want to compete in the C team cup as well, they might be happy with their own current set up ?

Thumping teams by that margin is not good....
It would be good for the competition if they did, some good sides in that div 5 league. The Cougars should be congratulated for their effort this year,as I am sure there are some good teams in this division too.
A team needs to be competitively challenged on a weekly basis, and sometimes when results dont go your way, that reveals any teams true character.
It is easy to be upbeat and positive when you are beating teams easily, regardless of what level you play, you need to be continually challenged ( IMO ).

The club really needed to test the waters this year, they tried this once before and it went to schit, to put it plain and simple, they weren't sure on the commitment or response so putting us any higher would have been a bad move if it didn't come off. In saying that, I thought we would have started there anyway? how do you prove how good you are on paper? who would make that call? Would it be fair to the teams above us? lot more involved than just a 16-0 score line. Remember beating some African team 22-0 playing with Adel Villa in Sat div 3 a couple of years ago, they called it off after 60mins!

My opinion is that we are playing in a league which is below our standard. We have dominated every game we have played. The two draws we had against Gleeson and Stirling were games where we were unlucky not to be 3 or 4 up at half time. The rest of the teams, apart from Titans the 2nd time have been competitive, but at a much lower skill level and less experience. We can and will beat better sides in higher divisions. A cup, inviting all C grade sides Saturday and Sunday is the way to go. On a club level, the C team at the Cougars must stay aligned (as much as possible) with the A's and B's for reasons I have mentioned earlier in the thread. There is more to the C team than just winning (leave that to the A's). At the end of the day... win/lose or draw, it is more of a social, fun competition for fella's like us (over the hill) and players that are trying the game for perhaps the first time in some instances. Been a pleasure being part of this team this year and having the older players still associated with our club!!

but to be fair mate, majority of your team aren't 'over the hill'.... I'd go as far as saying majority of your team have the ability and fitness to walk onto majority if not all of reserves teams in Div 2 (some even higher).....

Blotto, we are mate!! All aged 35 years and over. Playing at a higher standard will expose our lack of speed and fitness. Skill wise though, I think we are ok

PS- And I meant no disrespect to your team on my last post. You guys are a very good side, play with the heart and spirit that every team needs to be competitive!! All the best for the remainder of the year!! You, Alexis and the rest of the crew were some of the many great lads we have met through this league this season. THATS WHAT ITS ABOUT!!

Nah... no disrespect taken at all mate... You 'over the hill' lot ran rings around us in that 2nd half.

There was one area where I thought we might have had a chance in that game and that was if you guys tired in the 2nd half. The complete opposite happened. It was like a bloody training drill. You guys were walking it in and having pot shots at me... I lost count on how many shots on goal you guys had in that 2nd half....

Don't get me wrong, the only reason I made my original post about you guys going up is you've clearly been the dominant side in this comp and was concerned you guys are beyond this league....

Trust me, I (and I'm sure Alexis, Dan and the rest of the Stirling lads) will be looking forward to traveling down to Cougars next season for another crack at you lads and catch up for a few beers afterwards if you guys do stay put....

Was a good game for us. Although looked even for a while. Must have been something in those gatorades we had at half time

too true mate in all seriousness we could all still play div 1 if we REALLY wanted to........but we'd rather not
and we certainly didn't pick this div to be the big bully....going into the season we had no expectations..........

Fair point, nothing better then having all 3 teams playing at the same place every week, great for the comraderie. I didnt realise when I made the comment that there are so many clubs in div 2 that have a team in div 7 also. Next year it may work out even better for you guys, if RBE and either Monarchs or Gleeson get promoted from div 3A, you wil have two more sides you can align all 3 teams with.
Looks like the Cup idea will be the way to go. Good luck either way :)

catch up game Stirling 3 - RBE 0
We had like 55 shots on goal. Completely woeful finishing by Stirling. RBE keeper was brilliant it must be said.

RBE and Monarchs played a catch up game under lights with Monarchs taking the points in a 5-1 win. Thanks to all the lads who could make it.

FCA v COUGARS 0 - 6
Cougars comfortable winners against 5 or more players camping on the goal line..........
FCA not even a shot on target and the defense not once in the game had actually ran out near half way.....
not once did they drop their heads and game was played in great spirit all the way......
C'mon Cougars.....

Gleeson won by forfeit of RBE. Unfortunately they couldn't field a team. Now Have some fresh bodies for the big clash this week with stirling!

almost grabbed my swag and brang it to the game dawiseone  i was pretty comfortable sitting at the top of the box good game from the Cougars lads. My plan for the lads was to sit back, absorb what we could, and then try to counter if possible, which we did, and if our forwards had more composure they would have got a few decent shots on goal. As it stand a very accomplished display by Cougars, and good attitude shown by both teams. FCA looked at the game as a chance to practise, in a pressurised situation, our low block defense.

not good to hear RBE forfeited. They had plenty of players when we played them (3 or 4 on bench). never an ideal situation if teams cant field players.
