Mitre Balls

Post by Chelsea4thewin »

These balls brand new feel flat and stick to your boots

anyone else find them pretty average?

Nike Balls of last year were so much better

i think to play with they are nice but they do stick to the foot. I blamed the ball for an unsuccesful dribble the other week and everyone laughed at me. So it's good to see others have the same opinion

We used both types during the Brahma vs Modbury Vista C team game and you really couldn't tell the difference. Every time the ball went out (as there were only two match balls around) we just swapped and used the other brand, I couldn't find any difference in the weight and/or bounce of the new compared to the old.

 at this thread.

the only ball we've had recently that's even been worth complaining about was those yellow IDMs from either 2007 or 2008,

Personally, I prefer the Nike ball, as the Mitre one is a bit grippy, unnaturally so. However, no real difference in play between the two. (I think i could kick goal kicks a bit further with the Nike)

2007 The year of the Errea Stream!

Seems to be forgotten about but this bouncy ball was not favoured by midfielders that rathered attack the ball on its second bounce.
Most said it was too heavy and bounced far too high.

Image
2008 The year of the IDM select!
now that was a crappy ball to use!
I remember having about 12 of these turn into eggs three or four games into the season!!

Image
2009 The year of the Reebok Valde!
Some said it was like kicking a balloon around the park.

Image
2010 The year of the Nike Total 90!
Everyone's favorite this ball had weight and bounce yet seemed to move a lot in the air.

Image
2011 is the year of the Mitre Septor
This ball has most of the characteristics of the Errea ball without the bounce it has a slightly hollow feel to it though.
So far those who have used it have complained but time will tell.

i think all the balls in that price range have that sort of mesh feeling in the ball

i guess the SAASL dont want to make clubs pay $100 a ball for the ones used in the A-league etc which is fair enough

but i dont think you get complaining

The ball they use in the A league costs about $180 retail and is really only designed to play one game with and would not last that long

I can't stand this years balls, however a bad workman blames his tools. I'm sure I'll score goals whatever the ball is like.

It's the same for both teams.

We use those balls as training balls at West Adelaide, none of the players complain, they seem to do the job.

Really like the Mitre but are very bouncy compared to the nike, a nice ball to head.

I dont mind the Mitre ball, not too heavy and doesn't bounce dramatically, it is a bit grippy but as it gets older that will wear off.

Can clubs buy different match balls to utilise on game day?

Did you play outlaw? and did you trouble the scorers?

Because the Nike balls were available through most retail outlets.

Not sure if anyone noticed but saw some of the keepers struggle to get any height on the goal kicks.

Personally not a huge fan of the balls, seems harder to control the ball compared to the Nike but with time it should sort itself out.

If internationals can put up with crap like the Jabulani then we have no right to complain.

i had alot of trouble with the gk's. Am working on some technique changes at training. At the end of the day, a ball is a ball, 'relatively' round, conditions will always alter the balls characteristics but everyone will get used to them.
