Arsenal V Barca

Post by Chaos »

Good showing this morning by the lads. Arshavin played extremely well off the bench....Was it a penalty off his hands??
No Pique for the second leg could be a concern for Barca, they seemed to struggle with Walcotts pace. Off to Camp Nou 8)

To be fair, Arsenal played very well. Despite being outplayed for large parts of the game, they've managed to get a result and that's always the sign of a good side.

Have to wait for Barca to smash them at home.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Barca have a tendency to really, really perform in big games...

It was 2-2 last year until Messi decided it was time to win the game.

Is Puyol injured or something? I noticed he wasn't playing this morning. I think without Puyol or Pique it might be interesting though.

Do away goals count after 90 mins or after extra time?

I thought they always counted (as worth more than home goals).

as I understand it, if Barca win 1-0 at Nou Camp the aggregate is 2-2. But because Barcelona have scored a goal away from home and Arsenal haven't, Barca will progress through to QF's.

However, if Barca win 2-1 at Nou Camp, this takes aggregate to 3-3 but both teams have scored an away goal, meaning extra time and maybe penalties will be required to get a result.

arsenal had the play in last 20mins, setting up two goals

good game to watch as a neutral

Puyol should be back in 2 weeks to replace Pique.
Barca were good in the 1st half but in the 2nd half arsenal dominated them. Messi has one chance in the 2nd half to make it 2-0 and he should have put it away, but wenger made 2 good subs in arsharvin and bentder(guys a twat), and that changed the game.

Barca have the important away goal, which at the end of the day is really important. The game at Nou Camp will be completely different. You would expect Barca to get through

Cesc was ok tonight he did go missing at times, as for Messi, well he was far from his usual best

Equally good luck to barca keeping arsenal scoreless, cause they won't sit back. When Arsenal score it will put the pressure on barca to win by 2

What do you expect SBS to do? They have a deal in place with ESPN which means on the Wednesday morning SBS have the pick of the live fixture, ESPN get the Thursday morning.

This means you'll see all second leg matches on the opposite channel.

I didn't know what the deal was, so I was expecting them to show the best match possible! :P

What do Arsenal fans and Paul McCartney have in common?

They both get excited over one leg

Isn't that a contradiction in terms....
Save for some good fortune, Arsenal could have been 3 down before the hour mark.

--------

Good mental strength to be battered most of the game and to have the resolve to sneak 2 goals towards the end.
Interested to see how Wenger sets out his team. Defend all men behind the ball at your peril. Or expose their weakness at CB and knick an early away goal?

Not if you understand English and how the punctuation works.
