West Beach What The ???
What's happening down at the Beach 1st team bottom & facing relegation again
while the Reserve side 6 points clear ???
They obviously have the player depth to say in Div.1 but are they happy to win a Div.1 Reserve Title & get religated??? I dont think I've seen that before
Makes me think What The???

The beach ressies have defenantly earmarked themselves as the team to beat this year, but i dont see how it relates to the A comp? Unless they use a big rotation system who knows?
Appart from beach that have taken a clear lead the next 5 teams are fairly close.

We conceded one goal in open play, one own goal from a free kick and one thunderbolt cross shot that went into the top corner.
And it was our worse preformance of the season, not taking anything away from Beach who deserved the win. But they are not unbeatable.

McCombie must have pissed someone off because he would certainly be able to help a beach side that for me lacks a bit of gusto on the park

Pretty good... there were plenty of Vale boys getting stuck into the BBQ. Pretty sure the ladies sold out of of a couple of things. Full credit to the two ladies who were running the BBQ (they were on it during the A's game) but think they might have been on it all day.Bomber wrote:How was the food this week?

Why didn't ED and NAB play their fixture??? Seems pretty crucial to me!

Round 13, Sunday August 8 kick-off at 3:03pm at NAB.Kitchimo wrote:Why didn't ED and NAB play their fixture??? Seems pretty crucial to me!
Downs (Res) played Macedonia at home in Round 18 and won 6-2 , A's drew 0-0.
Must have been a score omitted, think they might have played or it was a catch up game that wouldn't have changed any relegation potential.

Not sure 'bout that...I wasn't very much involved at that time...moving to O'Sullys, birth of first son, selling house, changing jobs....I'll have to check that one,Kitchimo wrote:(I meant in the Reserves, given that they finished level on points).

Was played, long after the season had finished, but the SAASL had the game null and voided as NAB was deemed to have stacked their side with 1st team players.Kitchimo wrote:Why didn't ED and NAB play their fixture??? Seems pretty crucial to me!
Not sure why the game wasn't played during the regular season. Think it may have been an unplayable pitch because of the weather or the fixture was called off because NAB had a number of players unavailable because of State Team commitments.

Re: West Beach What The ???
Yes that is correct - the match was played after the season had finished and NAB stacked their side with first team players and beat us. As you pointed out, the result was later null and voided by the SAASL.htfac wrote:Was played, long after the season had finished, but the SAASL had the game null and voided as NAB was deemed to have stacked their side with 1st team players.Kitchimo wrote:Why didn't ED and NAB play their fixture??? I recall that we could not play the match on the scheduled day because NAB's ground at Athelstone was flooded, as it tended to get when there was heavy rainfall.
Re: West Beach What The ???
the first team results for west beach have been hard to take some weeks apart from 1 or 2 games the rest have been really close, even the florina game we sould have got something from that game,
as mentioned in an earlyer post a little earlyer it was said a little bit of physical toughness is needed and thats what has been missing. more so when going forward than when defending.
dont get to see many b games but i believe there a few older ex first team players playing that are just that little bit to old to play first tam but still want to play just timing of that generation of players stepping back.

beach boy don't get me wrong I'm not having a go at your club, it's just very unusual in the 1 Div. to have 1st team bottom & reserves top Good Luck anywaybeach boy wrote:the first team results for west beach have been hard to take some weeks apart from 1 or 2 games the rest have been really close, even the florina game we sould have got something from that game,

Re: West Beach What The ???
nugget i didnt take it that way
i have asked the question and had the question asked to me,
its a tough league and the best team doesnt always win, not saying beach have been the best team in all their games, far from it.they deserve to be on more points than they are though.
they haven't had their best 11 on the park at one time(imo) so hopefully this is a turning point and they have a good run home.
only watched the second half of the game on sunday it was a good game to watch the win making it better, 2 goals from jamo after coming on as a sub was great(came to the club as a goalkeeper)

Re: West Beach What The ???
West Beach has always had a decent B's side in recent years...However this year the side is the strongest it has been for years. The factors for this
-Before Fringe B players didn't play because we didn't have a C team. Now they are getting regular games.
- There are about 2/3 players who were A team regulars over the last 4/5 years that have decide to just play B's and have a few beers while Slagging off the A's.
- There are also 2/3 players who in my opinion should be pushing for A's team spots but don't train or the Coach doesn't think they can do the Job
- And finally, we have a good B's Coach..Who knows the game inside out
As for the A's, well we have been hit by some injuries and red cards so we haven't been able to field a settled side in recent weeks. I believe we are a better side than results would suggest.
