State U/14 Girls team

Post by Ze Germans »

Heard that the State u/14 Womens team is looking for clubs to play and has approached one particular JPL U/14 A boys team for a game. When the offer was refused becaue they would be "annihilated" the person requesting the game was amused as they believed the "State team" would wipe the boys JPL U/14A team.

These "girls" team need a reality check on their ability.

They should have requested to play an U/12 team then they would have stood a chance.

Honestly Ze Germans,

How can you say anything without having at least a look at some of the girls that play in the Under 14 state team. You write them off without even seeing them. How do you know what they cant or can do.
The boys team probably didnt want to play them because they were scared of getting beaten by girls.

Mrs Trainer, I know the girls more tha what u do.

They would not stand a chance if the boys were half serious. A 10-0 half time result would not be out of the question.

The physical nature of the boys cannot be matched by the girls at that age group.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

more like it would be a 3-nil defeat over the girls

who cares what the resukt would be anyway. its a good experience for both sides, the boys get to play against a side looking to keep possession, and the boys team can play some of the players that havent had much field time yet.

The SASI girls play in the U16's league and I don't think we would wanna play at a higher level than this. The average age of the SASI squad would prob be 18-19 and are considered some of the best players in the state yet are only playing 14 n 15 year olds.

Saying that it is only a trial game and results dont matter but from trial games you would hope to get some possession play happening and if the under 14 girls state team want to play an under 14A boys league team then I think the chances of the girls maintaining possession and building up play would be lost, as much as I hate to say it. I know I havent seen the state girls play but no way would they be a good match for an under 14A boys league team. If you are wanting to play that age group u should be playing a lower division side. Otherwise in my opinion theres no point to the game being played at all

Agree with Gubs, a flogging will not do them anygood, and playing an u/14a boys team will see this happen. An u/12 boys team would be the go at least the girls will get a fair share of possession. Chasing butt all game might get the girls fitter, but certainly no chance of displaying skills etc against u/14a boys. too strong too fast too skilful. :) :?: :?:

for girls under 14s to play boys under 14s is a bit of an ask, however do keep in mind many under 14s havent yet hit puberty, and thats the main issue as to why girls play down agegroups... however both teams cld benefit from such a game eg playing a possession game as gubs said.

I do know a lot of the girls in that team, and their individual ability. However, I have not seen them play together as a team other than during development squad traing late last year / early this year (when IMO the so-called 'shadow' squad looked a better team unit even though they didn't have the 'stronger' players).

I would have thought that a game against a JPL U13A team would have been best to go for - would give them about the right level of challenge without getting a demoralising flogging.

speaking from experience from the 2004 winning state UNDER 16 squad we played under 14 boys and we got our a$s' beat like seriously!!! but thats not to say they shouldnt, im just saying that they are asking alot coz the boys of today dont like losing even if they are playing against girls!!!

but then again we lost every one of our trial matches and ended up winning the hole thing... so i guess at the end of the day its how the individual looks at it...

but goodluck girls play strong and good luck for when ya go away!

Shorty we were U17 in 2004..But ur right we played against various U14A sides as well as the U14 & U15 boys state development squads and got CAINED!! I think it should be mentioned we had 8 SASI players in that squad and still I think the lowest score line was 4-1..

SO not taking anything away from the talent of these U14 girls..BUT maybe it would be a good idea to play against some boys sides at least a yr or 2 younger than the girls...

GOODLUCK GIRLS!! :D :D :D let us know how you go!

my U14B team got an invitation from this team, i would love to play, however it is a privilege to play matches and i dont think my team deserves it lol! so maybe later in the year when they trained harder and play better they may get the privilege!

however i did mention the U13s were a good side to maybe consider playing against.

i think the U14 girls (they are girls not womens Ze Germans lol!) state team would be very decent and would match it with possibly U13 boys sides better in my opinion. I think U14A sides would be tough for them, esp as the girls would mainly be 12,13,14 so i would go the way more of U13 teams in my opinion.

regardless of how many sasi girls were in the state team that year.. we had a lot of quality players and playing boys of that level, it was either a hit n miss sort of a situation... you either won or you got your a$s kicked basically... and we got our a$s' beat lol...

playing boys of that level even tho they mite be younger doesnt matter, the kids coming thru these days are outstanding...

so i guess its up to the coach, but if you want the girls to gain some confidence then i would take the root of playin girls, but if you want them to learn how lose then play the boys...

we learnt how to lose and how to lose the right way.. wendy n lia were awesome coaches and i dont think anyone cld have filled that position any better... from losing in all our trial games we gained alot, coz we lost a few of our players that year and they were awesome players (stacey day ect.) so i9 tihnk losing every trial game got us ready for the "what if's"
ya know
i dont think that makes sense lol... but hey its comin form me nuthin makes sense!!!!

State U14s

Just noticed this
, the squad did arrange some games before they went away, with boys teams,
the first game was against an u13 boys team . I think Croydon Kings but not certain. the state u14 girls beat them , from memory 3 or 4 / 1,
then they played u14 boys teams and u 15 boys teams, the girls learnt to be very physical and were not disgraced in games The results were very respectable 3 or 4 nil , 3 /1, one game was a 1/1 draw, another I think was 3/2 to boys only scored winner in last minute.(but not 100% sure).
Also agree playing u13 was best age but playing u14/15 boys certainly toughend them up.
This State u14 girls team Played in Canberra(kanga Cup I think)
There results were excellent they won every game in Prel rounds without conseding a goal. 5-0,3-0,2-0,3-0,
Then on eve of final Storm struck, Pitch underwater, Game probably would not have been played if it could have been postponed.
The team with the lucky break won, Ref was also below par .
SA girls dominated but unlucky to Lose 2-1 in injury time.
(that soccer )
