Re: Great idea - away teams bring mobile bars/eskies!!!!
We played at a Premier Saturday game last weekend, they run out of beer, we had no eskies, if you want us to support your club provide enough beer, we are more than happy to drink it !!
Re: Great idea - away teams bring mobile bars/eskies!!!!
If it was the general consensus of behaviour i would've used the term 'WE' instead of 'I'.BeogradGeneralsC's wrote:Is this the general consensus of behaviour at Vipers?crue head wrote:I've seen some teams bring their own drinks in recent times.
Doesn't bother me too much, as when we play at their ground I won't spend one cent.
Interested to see if there are any other clubs who share the "Viper mantra" out there!
Would you then adopt that philosphy if an away club member wanted to purchase from your bar? would you say... no.... please BYO because we BYO at your club
Therefore your argument doesn't hold any weight, because away team members can buy drinks from our bar, and Vipers personnel can buy drinks at another teams bar when they have bought drinks to our ground.

Cmon lads, its a social game of football play your guts out during the game, hate each other for the whole 90 mins then when the whistle goes shake hands and have a beer together. Re: Great idea - away teams bring mobile bars/eskies!!!!
as jaywalker may of mention earlier is that if an away team is selling thier own drinks they are breaking the home clubs alcohol licence
so maybe u should show more respect to the home team cos remember they will go to ur ground with the memory

Hate eskies being brought to the games. We spend a small fortune to provided quality entertainment that supporters demand and a few bring eskies and dont support the club. Bad form. I have, in the past been lenient with home supporters by saying if you have to use an esky leave it in the car as to not encourage others. But I have noticed more eskies coming out lately. We have just spent a few grand to install a coolroom to keep beer well chilled so we never have warm beer complaints. Maybe a revamp of the esky policy is in order, for all supporters.

As others have already said, it probably contravenes liquor licences and/or the terms of any council leases - the club is the one that will end up getting fined or losing their licence. Get the biggest bloke in the club to walk over and ask the freeloaders to politely leave the premises.marooned wrote:Maybe a revamp of the esky policy is in order, for all supporters.

they won't send me over because they know diplomacy is not my forte

If they are not selling it though and it's not part of their licenced premises (which most pitches and surrounding areas wouldn't be) then legally they are doing nothing wrong. Morally - different matter.
We had a team do it last year and claimed after that it was because petrol was expensive.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Never argue with an idiot - they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Re: Great idea - away teams bring mobile bars/eskies!!!!
some interesting points, if a club sells alcohol and you consume it outside the allocated area, then you are breaking liquor licence. So 99% of clubs that sell alcohol on the weekend are breaking the liquor license laws anyway.
Re: Great idea - away teams bring mobile bars/eskies!!!!
depends on what areas are covered under the licensing most clubs would include spectator areas during match days
Re: Great idea - away teams bring mobile bars/eskies!!!!
that is a fantastic idea.... kudos to you and your club!strappineastie wrote:I think it's terrible form for people to do this. I always tell all of our boys to go & have a beer or a drink of some sort, as long as your spending something over the oppositions bar. We have always gone into the oppositions clubrooms too. This year at Para Hills East I have implemented presentations after the game for the away side 1st team best player where they get a 6 pack of beer to encourage opposition teams to stick around after the games & it's working well.

Depends on what area the club's Liquor License is issued for. Most probably it would be on a club-to-club basis.bloodypassit wrote:depends on what areas are covered under the licensing most clubs would include spectator areas during match days
Bringing your own alcohol to a ground probably wouldn't break any Liquor Licensing Act laws. That said, most clubs' grounds would probably have a Council by-law regarding the consumption of alcohol in a public place, if not, no offence to bring your own. If the license doesn't cover the playing area and surrounds (home club), then drinking your own beer wouldnt be an offence. Selling beer on the other hand would be (for away teams) unless they have their own Liquor License.
Hope this helps...

Im sure then you wouldnt mind the home team to ask you to pay half the ref fee's and ground fee's for the day.SOR wrote:Just want to put something out there I've seen happening at my ground and see what the general consensus is with most amateur soccer clubs.
Away teams that bring their own esky's with drinks rather than support the other teams bar.
In one way it helps the away team raise money for their club by getting their players to buy drinks from their esky rather than the home teams bar canteen.
If this is OK with most teams I can organise my teams to take away esky's and raise money at both home games and away.
What is everyones thoughts on this?
Clubs need to support each other.

I like the idea of creating a thread which names the teams guilty of bringing esky's to away games and not supporting the home team.
It may deter clubs from doing it and it will inform everyone which teams to not support when playing at their ground.
What does everyone think? What would we call the thread?

Are you for real? ive played sunday Amatuers for 15 years and i can count on 1 hand the amount of times the empties left over by the away supporters havent included 'foreign' beers not from our stock, including teams from which a large amount of whinging has appeared on this thread!SOR wrote:I like the idea of creating a thread which names the teams guilty of bringing esky's to away games and not supporting the home team.

Whether it be 1 bottle, 5 bottles or 30 bottles.
Its public property, people can do as they please. Morally it may be wrong, but at the same time the club involved has abosoluetly no control on what their supporters/ friends of their supporters etc bring to the game. Slag off a club on here you better be sure your own club has no past discrepancies.
Some clubs have a huge support base. 10 people bring beers does not amount ot the whole club. If it really bothers you so much then dont buy beers at their club, but to tarnish a whole clubs name, whos members, comittee and players work so hard, for the actions of a few is plain stupid.
