England's shortfalls exposed in friendly.

1. Wes Brown is not good enough as back up to Glen Johnson.
2. Left back will be issue if Ashley Cole misses World Cup with injury, especially now Bridge has retired.
3. Lack of world class goalkeeper.
4. Reliance on Rooney for creative spark.lose him and England are in real trouble.
5. Right side of midfield with Lennon struggling with injury.
6. Worries in the second striker with Heskey the front runner but has only 7 goals in nearly 50 games.

How so? u/21's typically play first tier players which makes the comp higher standard than the one you follow with Millwall? :!:

Not true it is where the next generation of young talent progresses, large chunks of England squad are Premier league players loaned out to championship clubs.

I follow the England side, I reckon they'd beat the England U21's. I couldn't tell you one Millwall reserves result, or one team in England's U21 group.

Agreed. Sarcasm probably isn't the right word. It was just a stir. More a light hearted fishing expedition than anything else and as usual Col rose to the bait.

Sound about as intelligent as a guy who has a season ticket and tries to buy his seat at the gate

Although I could understand you not been interested, obviously results or best available talent has no bearing on your interest in the game. Your interest in football is about as relevant as that of a woman who only follows a team because "he's cute"

I can now name one, such is the relevance I even forgot the post that showed greece were in our group.

What was the attendance for England's friendly v egypt, what was the attendance in our last U21 game? Do the U21's even play at Wembley?

I fail to see your point about my relevance as a supporter? I presume y choose your team based on who's best then? and you say my opinion is like that of that woman's. who are you supporting next week?

My point is you follow your local amateur club and then International football and nothing in between. So all you know is amateur football and then every now and again become a 5 minute expert on England.

By default if you haven't watched any of the England players go through the grades, play week in week out for their club htf can you know anything about the players you are supporting when they feature on the international stage. Do they justify their call up? Who missed out, what position they play, strengthens, weaknesses etc etc.

You think following your local amateur team helps you understand football at an international level? comparing England Div 1 to actual football. What's your biggest cry of support when watching England. "Kick it long" or "Tackle him harder"

I suppose your mentality explains why the English need foreign coaches. Too pissed to understand anything beyond the score board. If all you understand is the score board, then you know as much as a woman who follows football because "no 23 is cute".

No wonder why Mourinho loves the EPL and keeps talking about how the English don't follow football outside of 90 minutes a week.

I won't bite on the "amateur club" you'll have to try harder on that one.

Part of football is the crunching tackles, I love seeing them. As for the long ball, you could argue the same about where is the fun in watching your team put 50 passes together only to go back to the keeper. There is a time for long ball there is a time for patient build up. A decent coach/team will use the right tactic at the right time with the right players.

Why stop at U21's, why not follow your countries U8's side?

A fan who supports a premier league team will only see theses kids playing twice a season anyway, so how will they have seen that bloke play either. Remember some of these players have come through the ranks (in the old days anyway) at lower league sides. Now, there's a good chance they have done a spell on loan at a lower league side.

What crowds do the italian U21 side get?

Was I wrong about amateur? You mean Millwall pay players? Do their players have jobs they do outside of football?

u/21's in Europe is relevant as the players are the next wave coming through in the next 1-3 years. Gives you a venue to watch the next best talent available to your club/ country and shows how they measure up against the best Europe has to offer. Also gives you an insight in how your club/ country are going as far as producing talent.

England Div 1 tells you sweet FA about international football, might as well watch the a-league. What's your best hope at as a player at Millwall, that a decent club in Div 1 sign you?

I can't help but laugh every time I hear the term "England Div 1" and they reckon advertisers don't know anything about selling.

I wouldn't have a clue how many people go to watch the game but all u/21 matches are extensively televised and reported on in Italy. If anything it's youth football is over analysed in Italy putting too much pressure and expectations on the kids coming through.

I won't rise to such obvious fishing about Millwall - nice try.

What game do more people watch, an italy full international friendly ot an U21 qualifier?
