Your 5 favourite current day players?
Who are your 5 favourite players at the moment that you love to watch??
I'll have a go..
1. Lionel Messi - Amazing young player, so smart he takes the piss out of seasoned veterans. Will go down as a legend of the game. Its funny seeing Barca play these scottish premier league clubs in pre-season. Messi is making these players look like hacks from the pub.
2. Dimitar Berbatov - What a gun, to be that size and be so skilful is amazing. He scores some of the best goals in europe at a consistent basis. So cool and calm as well, just brilliant. If I was tottenham I would do whatever it takes to keep him at white hart lane.
3. Michael Essien - He has everything you want in a defensive midfielder. Strong, vicious, skilful, can shoot can do everything. Hes so good that in the end it kinda screws him up because managers play him in a number of different positions... DM, LB, CB, RM etc.
4. Andrei Arshavin - I have followed him since 2007 as Everton were after him and he just grew on me every time I saw him play. Hes a little genius, so damn smart off and on the ball. He is elegant and downright brilliant. Destroyed England in qualifiers, lead Zenit to the UEFA cup and was brilliant at euro 2008. Had a quiet semi final but every player is allowed an off-day. If Tottenham have this guy sitting behind Berbatov they will be a very big chance this season.
5. Carlos Tevez - He has the best of both world. The fantastic ability and flair of the south american game, with the ferocity and strength needed to be successful in England. What he did for West Ham was amazing. Great player to watch.

Re: Your 5 favourite current day players?
to avoid being called biased (major
) I wont name any Lazio players
Fabio Quagliarella - Love the bloke, is very quick and scores some of the best goals you will ever see.
Alessandro Nesta - Easily the world's classiest defender. No longer the best in the world due to injuries, but there is still undoubtedly no one with the same class as him playing from the back.
Marek Hamsik - On the way to being a fuckìng superstar if he isnt already. Better than Arshavin IMO and a lot younger, unfortunately due to his nationality he probably wont get the chance to shine at a WC or Euro. Love the passion this kid plays with.
Kaka' - Pure class. Best player in the world for the simple reason that only the absolute best defensive midfielders in the world are capable of stopping him.
Javier Zanetti - Always wished this guy was Italian. Will go down as one of Inter's all time legends, and the top 5 or so in a long and illustrious list of Argentines in Serie A. How can you not respect this bloke???

Re: Your 5 favourite current day players?
Raul Gonzalez Blanco - An emblem of a club and a living, breathing embodiment of all that is Real Madrid, has been willing to give his heart, soul, blood and sweat for the fans, every day of every year, a record shatterer for both club and country. The symbol of an entire nation.
Can't really name 5 because Raul is just so much higher than all the others and naming any other 4 would just make his name look less honoured than what it should be.

1. Lionel Messi: Best player in the world as far as im concerned. He's got great pace, skill, finishing, positioning and passing. The only problem I can think of with this kid is that he has trouble staying match-fit.
2. Peter Crouch: He's not up there with the best in the world, but I love watching him play. For a guy his size, his ball control is amazing. He can pick a pass, and his first touch is excellent.
3. Michael Ballack: One of the best Central Midfielders in the game. He also scores a lot for a centre midfielder as well, great for Chelsea to have him fit again. Shame he's getting on in years.
4. Javier Mascherano: One of the best DM's in the world, if not THE best. His tackling is excellent, his pace is great, his positioning is great, his ability to run with the ball is quite good, and although he's only scored once for Liverpool..it was a cracker. So glad that the Yanks coughed up for this lad, will be a Liverpool legend in a few years time. Just needs to learn to keep his mouth shut when the ref's speaking
5.Xavi and Iniesta: Both great players, with great passing, great shots and great vision. I couldn't separate these two, though let me say that Iniesta's passing ability is unbelievable.
Would have included Shearer in this list, but you said Current players...

Re: Your 5 favourite current day players?
And now that there is sufficient space to symbolise how much higher up Raul is.
Iker Casillas - Almost single handedly won us the Champions League in Glasgow with his miraculous saves after Cesar's injury. Most people will remember Zidane's goal but on the night the legend of San Iker was born, and it continues to grow. One of the greatest goalkeepers, if not THE greatest goalkeeper of Madrid's history and the Captain of the Spanish team that delivered us our second international trophy and put the hoodoo to rest. What more can one say?

ibrahimovic- this guy is a class act on the field. his skill is amazing and his goals are even better

puyol- got to be one of the best defenders in the game. brilliant tackler and leader
torres- followed him before he came to liverpool and even though he is still young, he has got to be one of spains all time greats..legend

Re: Your 5 favourite current day players?
1. Crouch: Quality striker, great on the ground, pretty good in the air. May not be a world beater, but I love this guy.
2. Daniel Agger: Has the potential to become one of the best CB's in the world. He's just pure class.
3. Javier Mascherano: Best DM in the world. Breaks up the play excellently, passes well, doesn't panic on the ball, has great pace, not a bad shot and his tackling is superb. Joy to watch.
4. Fernando Torres: Up there with the best strikers in the world. Everytime he gets the ball I have the feeling that he's gonna pull off some magic goal. And I wasn't often disapointed..Exactly what you want in a striker.
5. Steven Gerrard: Nuff said.

Re: Your 5 favourite current day players?
Antonio Di Natale - Great player, have always loved watching him play.
Lionel Messi - Best player currently walking the earth, shits all over Ronaldo.
Simone Bentivoglio - Getting close to becoming my favourite Chievo player, a young gun midfielder.
Sergio Pellissier - Heart & soul of Chievo, a veteran striker who just knows how to score.
Stephen Dobbie - One of the best strikers in Scotland, and has become a cult figure at Queens.

My favourite players don't always perform but when they do they just make you sit back smile and maybe even try the trick at training on a tuesday.
Messi
Ronaldo
Riquelme (sp.?)
Berbs
Robinho
Ronaldinho would be in there but he had a bad year. Also love watching Brazilian Futsal.
