Re: Question re: FFSA bending rules for WAB
Salisbury started in the 14b's last year because they took the place of Munno Para who were forced out due to the FFSA declaring that junior clubs could not participate without a senior side. Several of the Munno Para boys went across to Salisbury hence the FFSA allowing them in the B division. It was good to see two clubs collaberating in the interest of the youngsters that play. Good on Salisbury and Munno Para. That's exactly how it happened!!
Re: Question re: FFSA bending rules for WAB
Now I really don't like doing this but, fowler 23 you really must check your facts before you post. There was a c division in under 14s last year. Toros, Raiders were in it at least. de uno I'm not debating why Salisbury were in under 14bs and your story may be correct but fowler 23 first posted a factually incorrect thread about FFSA bending the rules for WAB when in fact the very same rules have been bent for Salisbury in the past. The point is that FFSA make a judgment on teams and divisions each year - most times they get it right. Don't forget if a new team is made up the only real place is in c division as to place them any higher might involve either dropping a extra team down or having a bye round. Either way teams wouldn't be too happy.
I really don't like sticking up for WAB but lets be fair
Good luck in the A division next year lads, your games against WAB should be interesting to watch.

Re: Question re: FFSA bending rules for WAB
this is stupid, why is everyone infact arguing about such a petty point. Wat i say is what does it matter where salisbury are now an where they should have been if they came midtable in the bs last year they would only have gotten promoted last year anyway because they were good enough.. no way should their 14s this year or 17s this year be where they are, they are capable of top table B's or midtable A's

Sorry fowler, you misunderstand the WABs situationfowler_23 wrote:WAB are a new team to the competition this year. FACT.
Last year they did not have a junior setup. FACT.
Salisbury United are an established club and have been for over 50 years. FACT.
Last year Salisbury did not have an under 13s team. FACT.
Last year Salisbury had an under 14's team that finished bottom or second bottom of the 1st division. FACT.
Why is it then, that WAB have an under 14s team in division 1 and also an under 14s team in division 2?
going on FFSA Laws, these 2 teams should start in the lowest division for their age group as there is no club history to go on.............
....................... oh sorry wait, its West Adelaide, lets just put them in the top 2 divisions coz they give us lots of money.
pathetic!!!!!!!!
's
West Adelaide have teams in the higher grades because they have been playing in the junior competition for some years now and have earned places in those grades. The new things for WAB are the SENIOR teams, which is why those teams are playing in state league.
Olympic are the club with new teams in the junior competition and while I haven't checked, I'm presuming they all started in the lowest grades.
In previous years, Olympic were the senior club and West Adelaide the junior club. Two different clubs working together to provide a senior and junior setup, but still two seperate clubs. It gets confusing because of the junior club changed names to match the senior club but they were two seperate entities. That relationship broke down a couple of years back with the result that both clubs went their seperate ways. Last year, the juniors operated as
West Adelaide and were given dispensation by FFSA not to run senior teams while Olympic kept the Olympic name and were given dispensation not to run junior teams - the condition for both was that they fielded the full quota of teams this year.
Soooo, WAB have NOT been given special treatment, nor have Salisbury (or Olympic) been treated harshly.
Interestingly, I think there is at least one other junior club that works in conjunction with a senior club like WABs used to do, I just can't think of their name now. A browse of the FFSA site will probably bring it to light. Adelaide Hills is it? Sturt (being associated with an amateaur league club that's looking at joining the federation)?
And no, I'm not associated with any of the teams mentioned.

The statements made by myself above are opinions of my own and reflect nothing to do with any club that i am currently associated with.
Thankyou
Fowler..."statements made by myself are opinions..."
you suffixed all of these opinions with saying FACT. You have no grasp of facts. Its just a whole lot of misinformed opinions that have no basis in FACT.
last year WAB got special dispensation by the FFSA in recognition of at the hard work that was being and still continues to be done down there. I believe we have 350 juniors playing down there. How many does Salisbury? By the way this number had been fairly constant and we had to tell 150 kids we could not accommodate them all.
I think last year...and I have the picture, the U/15A final at Hindmarsh Stadium read:
West Adelaide 3
Metro Stars 0
The only decent thing to come out of Salisbury was one Paul Agostino and he had to come to West Adelaide to make a name for himself, because we were in the NSL.
No special treatment mate, just recognition that we do things better.

As an elite U/19 Fed coach..... It's good to see you do a lot of research about the league you are associated with. Do you research your next opponents as well....or do you just ask someone else what they are like?
