There are a number of reasons how a team would turn round a 6-1 trouncing at home one week and then beat the top team 5-0 at their ground. Either:The One wrote:What happened with the croydon playford game?? did croydon stack the side with 19's or were playford missing a few?? ethier way well done lads for knocking of the league leaders should make for a interesting run home.
a) change in tactics
b) opposition had a bad day
c) stack your team with u19s
d) play out of your skins or
e) all of the above
I know which one I would pick.
16s
Noarlunga beat Playford 16s 2-0. An excellent strike and a crap penalty. The ball was kicked into the defenders hand. If Playford had taken their chances early the game could've kept flowing. Well done to both teams.

U 16's
Modbury lose again!?!
Espically to Northen Demons
Must be playing their under 12's..
Noarlunga 2-0 Playford.
Playford missed chance after chance, only thing the goalkeeper had to do in the first half was get the ball out the back of the net, from an excellent strike from 20 yards.
Fairly even flowing game, ref gave a weak penalty during the second half, which killed off the game.
Game got cut short in the end.

All junior teams do, for some reason there is a minority that figure winning at all costs is better than development & fair play.BillShankly wrote:Under 17 teams definately need player id cards
this is getting beyond a joke.
Our team hasn't had cards for two years, yet the Federation takes the kids money and photos, why?

oh dear here we go again! forumites who should know better shooting off
b4 they get their facts right!
if you are suggesting the turnaround in form by Croydon was due to
playing overage players then you are mistaken!
there was only one boy on the pitch who was not invloved in the game against Birkalla when they were outplayed and nothing went right for them! and he has been a regular throughout the year as well as playing
for 19s on saturdays . i can assure you he is not overage!
some of the others have had limited game time in the 19s ..but not a lot!
two new players have come to the team from other clubs and yes they
have been cleared! they have taken a bit of time to gel with the group
but did so y'day against Playford!
the reason for the turnaround was more to do with a group of boys who
realised the performance the week prior was not acceptable fronting up
determined to be first to the ball ,being disciplined ,playing for each other
and the coach and club! as well as a change in structure which worked a
treat!
bill shankly- you were not even at the game when Birks humbled Croydon
maybe you should give your boys some credit for a performance (which
Croydon learnt from) as im sure thunders and dusty will tell you that on
that day everytihng went right for Birks and nothing worked for Croydon!
rather than casting doubts on Croydons honesty.....
FYI this same team also defeated Playford earlier in the year ,
the only difference being the 2 new boys!
Croydon are a proud club who do everything by the book ..unlike some
others!

I cant see where i referred to croydon in any manner and i respect what croydon have achieved with their juniors over the recent years, which has been highlighted by the numerous players selected for state, development squads, aus squads, sasi etc (also a shame they dont try and break into the womens league and with the same fundamentals they have with the boys im sure they would be able to really develop some talented girls as well in the medium to long term future.)
I think you would find especially in the 17s league is that how results come about, things go right for one team and not for the other, its the breaks that teams get as they get older and the matches become more evenly competitive and contested.
With reference to the player id cards, atleast this way it will stop rumours flying around about who played overage players. Tell me one weekend where you didnt read on this forum that some team played over age players. Atleast this way it will stop it once and for all.
Hope your son is enjoying this year at Croydon and has a good remainder of the season Spurs.

bill,
i agree cards should have been issued and hopefully this will be rectiifed
next season but is this issue going to be brought up every time an "unusual" result occurs? i also am aware of Comets u19s virtually if not
all being eligble to play 17s so cannot see why this was mentioned as it
was in the results topic as it was!
there is nothing can be done about it now and as we know FFSA is now
aware to the problems that can arise without cards... so hopefully what
has happened with that "other" club will spur them on to rectify for next
season...
lets just drop it for now and accept that the odd turnaround can occur due
to a variety of factors not just the dubious ones!
