Italy have won 9 times against Spain and Spain has won 8....pretty even, not sure what you're talking about in regards to history repeating itself? Unless Baggio gets up from his grave. That or the Italian players take a leaf out of the class of 1934 book and injure 8 of our players...

Rather fail in big tournaments than have every one of my big tournament wins have some sort of controversy or extreme piece of luck behind it.

Madrista612, you are showing how stupid you really are. Every team that wins a major tournament has some luck.

True but most teams don't resort to rough house tactics and intimidating referees to win those tournaments.

I can't comment about what happened in the 1930s.

1968 - Coin toss, how is that rough house tactics and intimidating referees
1982 - Roger Milla goal being disallowed, how is that rough house tactics and initimidating referees when Italy weren't even playing. You seem to forget Toni's disallowed goal against Romania!!
2006 - Controversial penalty against Australia, how is that rough house tactics and initimadating referees. I think it was a Spanish referee who awarded the penalty!!!

Boo frickety hoo - rough whatever douchebag. Get some tissues and fark off - even the spain sympathisers are starting to think you are a moron.

You dont hear the players bring this up in the press do you?

Build a bridge.

And dont talk about luck, before the 2006 win, Italy had lost their last 3 world cup games on pens and the final of Euro 2000 on a golden goal and were knocked out in very suspicious circumstances in in euro 2004.

Dont talk about luck you sour sour person.

Tell me when Italy has intimidated refeerees like you say. I give you the 1934 game in the world cup and then?
If it was like that Italy would have won every tournament in history.

It is more of a case that Spain are the world biggest underachievers and sore loosers (Even England has a world cup). It is easy to criticise others and find excuses to justify your own failures.
Spain has had plenty of opportunities to win against many other teams and what happened? Nothing.

Give me a better excuse than retreating to the usual stereotipical answer.

Spain's failure isn't what we were talking about, but I believe Spain have failed because of bad luck, match fixing and the tensions between the Basques, Catalans and Spaniards, plus you've also got bad performances.

Can't comment, or don't want to comment, what makes you authorised to comment on the other tournaments?? by rough house tactics and intimidating the referees I was mainly referring to the 1934 game but now that you mention it, watch Argentina v Italy in 1982 and watch how many times Diego Maradona gets chopped, the referee seemingly turns a blind eye. The Roger Milla goal shows how lucky Italy are, or did money change hands during that game? Coin toss reflects how lucky Italy are again, not only that but the fact that it was in the changing rooms....who's to say something didn't go down, very very interesting considering that other matches involving the toss of coin took part outside in the open. Why was this one in the changing rooms??? Yeh so it was a Spanish referee who awarded the penalty....Spanish referees are terrible....I fail to see your point.

So lets go to what you just said and assume Italy did all those things - then lets assume Franco wielded all his power to ensure Real Madrid got Di Stefano and Puskas and repressed Catalan and Baque teams to ensure Madrid success.

Without that domestic success there would be no European Cups.

Errr didn't South Korea score a golden goal against Italy...how is that losing on penalties? Mate seriously it frustrates me when people state things as facts when their completely wrong....CHECK your facts before you actually post them because it's just embarrassing when your wrong, i'm not saying that Italy didn't get stiffed in 2002, in case you hadn't noticed Spain did as well but don't come on here and say that Italy lost in the last 3 world cups on penalties. Did you actually watch the 2002 world cup?

An interesting point to consider for those who brought Real Madrid and Franco into this despite this thread being about the Spanish and Italian national football teams. Oppression of Basque teams during Franco's reign, but yet Bilbao still managed to win a league title, FC Barcelona managed to win 4 and Atletico Madrid (Real Madrid's city rivals) managed to win 2...in 10 years Real Madrid won 4 league titles, the rest were won by a Basque team, a Catalan team and a rival to Real Madrid. Onto the cup trophies, between the periods of 1950 to 1960, Real Madrid won 0 Copa del Rey titles, those titles went to Athletic Bilbao (a Basque team) with 4 titles, FC Barcelona (a Catalan team) with 5 titles and 1 each by Valencia and Atletico Madrid. Such was the oppression by Franco of Basque and Catalan teams that in 1951 FC Barcelona (Catalan team) played against Real Sociedad (a Basque team) in the final. IN 1953 much the same happened when FC Barcelona (a Catalan team) played Atheltic Bilbao (a Basque team), 1957, an all catalan final with FC Barcelona and Espanyol. Not only that but in 2 of the finals Real Madrid was the beaten finalist, once against Athletic Bilbao, another great example of how Franco oppressed Basque football teams and then in another final to Atletico Madrid, in the period of 1950 up to and including 1960....Real Madrid won 4 domestic titles from a possible 22......domestic success indeed.

Real Madrid 4 Domestic Titles
FC Barcelona 9 Domestic Titles
Athletic Bilbao 5 Domestic Titles

Where did anyone get oppression of Basque and Catalan teams from.....further more where did the Real Madrid domestic success come from....you bunch of clowns don't know shyte about Real Madrid....or Franco.

I'm cool, calm and collected, just having a debate over something with a bunch of idiots who know 0 to diddly squat about football. By the way it's "Madridista" why is that so hard for people to spell properly??....exiting up and coming fixture???
diegom wrote:stop with the googling and wikipedia
Why might that be? Is your arguement getting completely shat on and want to save face because if that's the reason than no worries, if embarrassment is what you're worried about though....might want to stop supporting the Italian national football team.

embarrassment :?: i am not embarassed of our national team,,, why would i be :?:

i wont bother to bore you with a list of our achievements vs spains,,, you seem fairly knowledgeable but equally as ignorant.

whatever should happen monday,,,Spain have some distance to travel before their national team and its history can rival italys.

Spain is better than Italy, we don't cheat and we play beautiful football rather than the crap Italy play, you should be ashamed because almost all of your team's achievements are wrapped in controversy....if cheating is the way to win major international tournaments then lets get Juventus in there.

What's amusing me is that you don't have a single arguement in the world and all you can do is insult...how about you give evidence as to why my points are so ludicrous? See there's a difference between me insulting your intelligence because you have no point whatsoever and you just insulting my intelligence because your stupid and have nothing meaningful to say.
