Only Senegal are close from Africa. Drop them too?

Its another reason they don't need more teams in the WC (finals).

24 seemed about right, 32 (current) slightly superfluous but helps with the maths. 48 will be a joke.

That said, the spread is about right. People forget there are still a lot of shit teams in Europe.

The obvious way for me is to take a percentage of teams that make the next round. That's the percentage of teams your confederation should have in the world cup.

At the moment, 10 teams have made it to the 2nd round. 8 of them are from Europe and 2 are from S America.

North America, Asia and Africa are guaranteed to fall below that 50% mark. Europe are guaranteed to be over it, South America is undecided. That, to me, says Europe is underrepresented and possibly South America as well. Asia, Africa and N America are over represented.

Throw everyone in one bowl, draw 31 random groups and have the winners in the final with the host nation.

It's not going to help to let the weaker European teams like San Marino, Italy and The Netherlands into the competition.

Team Australia are hit with a reality check,we outplayed Denmark 7 to a degree Peru, but we have not got in form strikers. We barley qualified then we are expected to just beat Peru who beat Brazil in the 2016 copa america. This is were we are now & we can defiantly improve in the next 4 years under coach Arnold.Craig Foster & Robbie Slater think that Van Marwijk was coaching a team with the talent of Croatia at least. In a 7 month period nobody would have pulled of a miracle with this squad. Juric should not have been in the team with his injury+ Cruse was a wast of space. As far as my comments on this years champions league games i suggest for Englishman to watch them & go to a local Italian club to discus the refereeing.

Mega has got his wish. We've reverted back to the slow predictable passing laden build up. It's just like Ange is coaching again.

Players aren't running with the ball, running at players, attacking aggressively.

Get those pass stats up. Well trained average robots.

As far as quality on the ball goes, Australian players were by far the worst at this World Cup. You can't teach quality. Its learned in the streets growing up and Australia doesn't have this culture.
In its place you have a robotic system where players (sons of 'Soccer Moms') do only what they're told by under-qualified hacks drilling them about formations and predictable passing triangles.
Look at the finishing of nearly every other team that's scored a goal in this tournament and you can see, Australia has never had that type of quality.

At the end of the day Germany ended bottom of their group just as the Socceroos. That's how the game goes. So much for the negativity.

Brilliant plan but FIFA has already beaten you to this every 4 years.

Maybe Mer's can explain this but why do goalkeeper rundown into attack and try to score yet a defender still remains on the halfway line. Do they think they are a better attacking option than field players. Neuer will take a bit of time to get over this.

I don't know this friendly tournament but pretty sure they don't put all the teams in FIFA in the hat and just draw them out randomly.

Goalkeepers should be taking throw ins and playing the offside trap.

The point of going to a world cup is to lift the trophy. It's just degrees of failure from there down.

A downward performance trajectory over the past 12 years is what the FFA and Australia expected?
