And Marsh launched a stinging attack on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) doping code, saying the AFLPA has "concerns around its applicability to Australian sport".God is an Englishman wrote:Aussies soft on drugs in sport AGAIN
The sport really is a joke
“One rule for the rest of the world and a different one for us” it would appear.
Marsh should get himself a lucrative PR consultancy with the Chinese national swimming team or the Russian Athletics Federation.

No new evidence, no change to interpretations of original decision, just ASADA trying to save face via a bigger authority. Convenient that when they got their way, no appeals allowed.
Only thing this has proved is that WADA are above and beyond than what we perceive as basic law and human rights.
Fuck off

Maybe for their next trick they will say there's a 3 strikes policy and they won't ban you until then. OK, I'm going too far there - they'd never be that stupid as to openly show how soft on drugs they are.nachoman wrote:Also shows how corrupt the afl is

Re: Essendon Saga continues
Love this "soft on drugs" thing. People (sportsmen) get far less for senseless bashings.
And still no proof provided, just heresay on "balance of probability".
The WADA/ASADA relationship reminds me of the old school yard. ASADA gets beaten up in a fair fight, then runs to big brother (WADA) to seek revenge and no further recourse as the teachers are now involved.
Nevertheless it is what it is, and I can see in a few years this will make the club even stronger as long as they aren't crippled with too many lawsuits (can already hear the lawyer's hands rubbing together).
Players should take a year off travelling the world, keep up their fitness, freshen up and come back with a bang in 2017.

Would be been done and dusted if the board didn't blindly support Hirds legal grandstanding....the NRL players got 3 game bans for coming clean....the Bombers gambled and lost...simple....players at fault too....they lied about being injected, regardless of what it was.

Essendon only has themselves to blame. If they admitted fault and took the plea bargains being offered, this could of been over last year.
With the potential lawsuits to come, it will take a massive toll on the club.
10 years before they recover from it, IMO

just cop what big brother tells you and accept a penalty for doing nothing wrong.

Sorry I am late to the party...

That''s what Carlton thought as well when we got whacked. I guess we didn't have the AFL championing "we will help this big club rise back up".
The Hird delusion rolls on, its beautiful to watch. I think we can safely say old Hirdy was a drug cheat when he played the game. He reminds me of Lance Armstrong.

.......So, in summary, who was really responsible for the injection program that led to 34 players getting suspended for a season? Quite simply, everyone else. The staff, the media, the AFL, and to some extent – let’s be totally honest here – you.
But was I in any way responsible, even in some small way? To come to that conclusion, you’d have to believe that I had some kind of senior role, or at least some level of influence at the Essendon Football Club. And that is the stuff of conspiracy theories”.

C'mon, Caaaaarrrrlton just fucked up draft picks and compromised getting young talent and instead giving away draft picks for the likes of Judd etc. I just hope we don't go down same path which could be easier with all this free agency going on, but I'd rather rebuild and use draft picks instead of trading them unless it was a "one-off very key position" that was desperately required. All comes down to who of the players that are ousted will come back. Lawsuits wont help their cause if that's their wish.
Anyway, reckon I'll enjoy a year off too (from AFL) but would laugh if we win a game or two. We do have Carlton twice, so its possible!

Re: Essendon Saga continues
Just my opinion Bomber... but after everything that has come out in the media and Jimmy's complete lack of ability to demonstrate what was actually in the syringes at Essendon* as well as his own admission that he was jabbed with Peptides... it's not much of stretch to say his playing days were tainted. Exhibit A:Bomber wrote:

Thats Jimmy in his playing days with convicted drug peddler Shane Charters. Look at those smiles.

But it's just my opinion. I am sure the Essendon* faithful are still happy to pour money in the Essendon* coffers and welcome Jimmy back into the club as soon as possible. He is the heart and soul of the club... A club that drug cheats.
If we get to the facts; the people that matter are comfortably satisfied your players are drug cheats. All the rhetoric in the world can't change that. Essendon* are drug cheats. Has such a nice ring to it.
I still wouldn't be suprised to see Essendon* knock Carlton off at least once this season. As a club; Carlton are probably behind the GC and GWS in their inaugrual seasons. Hopefully those 1 or 2 victories for Essendon* this season over the Carlton u23's will distract you from the fact your club is a drug cheat, if only for a moment or two.

All I know is Essendon* are convicted drug cheats and Geelong are not
