Just checked willyweather,

Stirling rainfall:

Thur July 4 = 0mm,
Fri July 5 = 14mm,
Sat July 6 - 7 mm (date of postponed match)

Forecast for next 3 days

Thurs = 10-15mm
Fri = 10 -15mm
Sat = 1-5mm

hopefully warmer temperatures stop a repeat event.

think how much your bar will make when modbury come to town. Think of your club, not just about me.

Think of the long drive for you to modbury's ground next season.

Match fixing???? :P
Congrats to Modbury, they turned up in numbers and certainly celebrated enthusiastically after their winner and at the end of the game.
(Some were gesticulating that Stirling only had two goals, while others were kindly indicating that they had won the game by one goal.)
Cougars supporters present gave them some stick from the start, especially after we went 1-0 up in the first minute or two, and seemed to take the banter in good heart.

Stirling 1-0 up quickly, good move down the wing, cross, finished nicely.
Modbury then applied the pressure for most of the half, but Stirling stood firm.
Modbury reply 1-1, was almost a carbon copy of the Stirling goal, however many of us felt the Modbury winger was offside (no flag).
Second half was even, with Stirling perhaps a little on top.
Stirling 2-1, with the keeper embarrassed as a soft, slow, angled shot from about 8m went straight to him, hit the mud a foot in front of him, didn't bounce at all, went straight along the ground, under his hands and between his legs. How we laughed!
Modbury reply 2-2, long clearance from broken play by the keeper (Modbury forward standing offside), our player tries to get his head to it but only deflects it straight to their striker, linesman puts flag up immediately for offside, striker slots ball home, ref signals goal. After Stirling protests, ref checks with linesman and overrules him (not the first or last time he'd ignore a linesman's call).
Game looked headed for a draw, Stirling getting some good chances at the other end, including a free header on the six yard box put straight in the keepers hands.
Cougars calling for the whistle, a series of Modbury free kicks, Stirling players a little slack in getting back in defensive cover, long ball over the defence, Stirling tackle in the box cleared the ball, ref points straight to the penalty spot, Modbury 3-2.
Kick off. Full time.

Good hard game. (Although I felt Modbury's physicality could have been penalised more early on, you can't just wait for the keeper to take the ball then deliberately barrel him over in mid air - no free kick, no talking to the player, nothing.)
Modbury played to their strengths and got the result they needed. Well done.

Best wishes to Modbury and Vipers in Div 1 next year.
