EPL away game safety
Hi guys
I'm heading to the UK next month and would love to watch chelsea play.
The only game I will be able to get to is swansea away.
Is it dangerous to go to away games in your team's colours?
I've never been and I have no rellies over there so I'm pretty clueless.
Any tips or experience?
Thanks

Re: EPL away game safety
you will be perfectly 100% safe. use common sense and dont do anything stupid.
Re: EPL away game safety
Yep Im sure you'll be fine at Swansea. Supporters will only really go bonkers if they see you wearing a Cardiff shirt.

Is that around the grounds? Or just swansea?il principe wrote:you will be perfectly 100% safe. use common sense and dont do anything stupid.
Are there any fixtures that would be considered dangerous? (Just out of interest)

Re: EPL away game safety
do not wear colours, keep you head down and your mouth shut.
Assuming you have a convict accent then you will be fine.
DO NOT WEAR A CHELSEA SHIRT!!
Enjoy it, away games are fantastic!!
I assume you're a chelsea member otherwise you won't get in the chelsea end.

Going to football is like going out on a Saturday night.
If you look for trouble you will get it, if you do the sensible thing you will be OK, unless unlucky.

I have been in the UK now for about a month & I have attended a few premier league games if your not sitting with the Chelsea fans then don't wear your shirt otherwise you wi be removed from the stadium as a QPR fan found out last Sunday at White Hart Lane. They are very strict on selling home tickets to away fans as I have had some trouble purchasing them

I can't believe people wouldn't know that already. Spent many away games in the home end with my mouth shut so they don't hear accent and sitting on my hands. Very annoying seeing your team score and you can't celebrate.

The best way to go is with an official Chelsea supporters group (or that of any club you want to watch away), that way you'll have safety in numbers.
Being on your own is like walking round with a huge target on your back and front and an arrow over your head pointing out you're an away fan!

That's a lot safer obviously as you'll get the police escort into the ground etc.. but you won't get the full experience. If you keep your head down you'll be fine. If you get the train to swansea from London you'll get the same safety in numbers and a better experience.
Re: EPL away game safety
in germany you will find dortmund will buy many home team tickets and have 15000 at an away game rather than 5000 with no fear of trouble, i wish this were the case everywhere
dortmund fans are some of the best in europe

You should be able to sit where you like if you have a ticket for that seat.

You should be fine mate, although I would steer away from Cardiff fans. If you need help with tickets I might be able to help you out as well.

I follow Chelsea and sat in the Liverpool end on an away day 2009/10 season. I wouldn't wear your strip unless your with your own fans though.

You wouldn't even get in the wrong end if your colours could be seen.
A lot easier for an aussie to be in the wrong end than an Englishman. The accent gives it away for a lot of clubs.

Re: EPL away game safety
I went to a game in London in August and had no worries at all. Was Spurs V West Brom but plenty of people wearing WBA shirts and had no worries from Spurs supporters. In saying that, no Albion supporters were baiting Spurs supporters and there were lots of cops around. So maybe wear a jacket if you are going to wear a team shirt. Play it safe, don't say anything stupid and you'll be fine.Slippery Gypsy wrote:Hi guys

Also means you don't take the piss on someone else's manor. Same as in a foreign country, you keep your head down and don't act like a cunt.
