W League ???? whats going on...

As per the document above if you scroll down to Under16Bs there is a W League team in there....
Pity none of the girls have been told whats happening yet.....According to this they are meant to start playing this week....
Come on FFSA... I know you have had problems with the mens teams.... But arent you meant to have a womens dept...Surly someone could have figured something out by now??

Re: W League ???? whats going on...
Have heard about the possibility of there being a W-League team playing in the boys league this season in preparation for the W-League season. Maybe its just been there since the idea of it came up and not removed? :? And wont all the W-League players have their respective club games that afternoon of that games at various locations...

SASI Girls are in the U14b league, that's true.
As per the W League, I heard this was going to happen but I thought it was next year maybe...

If W-League team is in boys U16B league then you would assume games would be mid week as per SASI in the past?Red-4-Life wrote:Have heard about the possibility of there being a W-League team playing in the boys league this season in preparation for the W-League season. We really need this group together and playing competitive games in the W-League 'off season' or we will never be competitive in W-League.
Sounds like there is either a communication breakdown or some confusion over what is or isn't happening....
Re: W League ???? whats going on...
The minds of the federation are more than likely concentrating on the teams in the mens side of things trying to break away, rather than giving us a thought at all
"Just ask yourself, have you hugged your goalkeeper today?"

But I thought we had a womens dept in the FFSA surely they are not dealing with the mens comp????

Re: W League ???? whats going on...
I would assume that these games will be changed to midweek. Players who are in the premier league say for example playing at 3pm for Metro @ Metro cant be expected to go to south adelaide or noarlunga for an u16s game on a sunday. But i think the idea is good, it keeps the team together in the W-League offseason and will help improve the team and local players. Also shows the FFSA are willing to back the team come this summer!pvfc wrote:If W-League team is in boys U16B league then you would assume games would be mid week as per SASI in the past?Red-4-Life wrote:Have heard about the possibility of there being a W-League team playing in the boys league this season in preparation for the W-League season. Just out of interest, who has been coaching the W-League group since the end of their season? (assuming they have still been training?)
Surely that person should have been ensuring the girls were prepared and informed about any upcoming games?

I think you will find that the W League squad hasn't been in training since the end of the W League, and that the players themselves are totally in the dark as to what is happening, even though we are one week out from commencing.
Hopefully Lepskii can confirm.
Its representative of the state of the game at the moment, for both men and women.

Re: W League ???? whats going on...
Surely if it WAS happening something would have been said by now?? South Adelaide are gonna rock up disappointed on sunday morning i tell ya.
Re: W League ???? whats going on...
It is obvious there is no W-League squad even. They would not be flying players in!! Another thing they would not be playing Sunday mornings if they are taking part at some stage. One would assume South Adelaide and other clubs would be in the know as to where the situation stands or they should find out.
The most important thing at this stage is for FFSA to get the the Womens Competition rolling so that if there is going to be a W-League training squad they can pick one. Surely it is more important to build a squad from players sighted in Premier League games and Div 1.

Umm...did you think the W-League squad will only include LOCAL players from the Lady Reds?? As well as probably new players being considered for next season from SA
Re: W League ???? whats going on...
Who knows what they will do, but to fly in players for the u/16 b boys comp would cost an astronomical amount of money.
Do not think there will be many interstate players in next year W-League side. But who knows.

Err I dont think they'll be flying in interstate players for the local competition here. Those players are playing in their own leagues and wont be able to fly here anyway with whatever commitments they have midweek (uni, football, work).Im pretty sure its just local players.beaches wrote:Who knows what they will do, but to fly in players for the u/16 b boys comp would cost an astronomical amount of money.

Re: W League ???? whats going on...
Well the point I am making is that without interstaters there would not be enough of the squad left to field a team in the u/16 b boys comp. So forget about the W-League for now and concentrate on the local womens competition for a while.
Yes having the interstaters playing for AU is helping those girls and the FFA but it is not doing much for Womens Football in SA.

Re: W League ???? whats going on...
Actually your wrong on this one SAD GAL,
This year they had a NTC Squad play in the boys competition with a lead up in to the W_League season with girls ranging in age from 14 up to 25....
So this has been improved

Re: W League ???? whats going on...
I agree with you Retired that things are changing for the better within the elite programs run by FFSA. And Sad Gal trotting out old threads and claiming that nothing's changed is just plain wrong. But who on the NTC squad was 14? And who was 25? The youngest was 15 from January I think. Don't know about the upper end. Didn't think they had anyone that old. Thought Lepps was the oldest that got called(eventually) for that. Can you clarify?
Re: W League ???? whats going on...
You are right:... JW is 15.... The years are going by to fast...... And Kat B is 24 so a bit exaggerated there as well. But still the majority were in their late teens. And were improving at a great rate playing in the under 15A boys comp.
Re: W League ???? whats going on...
I think Adelaide Uni players should be banned from playing for the Reds. A lot of thme were to blame for the demise of Olympic. Selfish lot
