You're clutching at straws when imagining a 5-0 series win would be won by one run every test for a start, but 5-0 is 5-0 whereas the 3-1 you're banging on about was in the balance with one test to play. I bet before the last test in that series you were worried it could end up 2-2.

Merely making the point that winning 5-0 might not be easy, but winning by an innings always is.
