Defoe recalled for England
After four year wait and 33 goals in 77 games for a struggling Sunderland side , surely well deserved. However it does reflect lack of English strikers scoring regularly in the EPL ( other than Harry Kane).
Full squad:
Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Torino, on loan from Man City), Tom Heaton (Burnley).
Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Man Utd), Michael Keane (Burnley), Luke Shaw (Man Utd), Chris Smalling (Man Utd), John Stones (Man City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham).
Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham), Michail Antonio (West Ham), Ross Barkley (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Man Utd), Jake Livermore (West Brom), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Nathan Redmond (Southampton), Raheem Sterling (Man City), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton).
Strikers: Jermain Defoe (Sunderland), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Jamie Vardy (Leicester).

Agree, spuds could never be a big club. In other good news Pochettino caught having dinner with barcelona boss, isn't Enrique leaving soonozzie owl wrote:I'm sure Spurs fans will worry after Deli Alli's great performance against Germany , the big clubs will come swooping.
Re: Defoe recalled for England
The involvement of Brad Lowery in the qualifying match at Wembley was very touching.
They thought he got over his cancer battle at 3YO and got it back just recently at 5YO.
Defoe has been close to him visiting him at hospital and he got to lead the England team out with his mate Defoe.
You could see he is a real little character.
There has been $700,000 raised to help him beat this current battle he has with cancer.
All the best young man

Re: Defoe recalled for England
This whole situation has changed my opinion on Defoe. Also, worth noting that Joe Hart stood aside to let Defoe and Bradley lead the team out. You could clearly see that the kid worships Defoe and so great to see a professional footballer going against the perception that they only care about themselves.Mr Red wrote:The involvement of Brad Lowery in the qualifying match at Wembley was very touching.

Yes a nice touch by Joe Hart as well.
And Defoe scored the first game of the game which I'm sure would have made little Bradley a very happy young man.

A great photo of Bradley asleep in Defoe's arms on a hospital bed.
They have a great connection which is great to see.

His reaction to him when he was waiting in the tunnel as well.Mr Red wrote:A great photo of Bradley asleep in Defoe's arms on a hospital bed.

There's a young Millwall supporter called Harvey Brown who seems to have that connection with some of their players as well, he led us out at Wembley last year.

Surprisingly, Sunderland is going to join Championship for the next season.

And Defoe will most likely be at Crystal palace next season - Big Sam has made moves to get him there.
How many 'London' clubs will that make for Defoe?
The older I get the better I was.
