Results and thoughts for round 4, also for the midweek fixtures.

Solid result against Chievo last night for Juve, laboured a little bit as our finishing let us down again, although Sorrentino wasn't half bad in the Chievo goal. Quagliarella with a brace to clinch the points, is in a bit of a purple patch and hopefully he sees more game time as a result. I have always thought he has more to offer than the likes of Matri, is capable of winning a game off his own boot. Also very pleasing to see that with all the squad rotating we are still clicking and finding the results, good to see the likes of Pogba getting a run as well, the depth of the squad is what is going to make sure that we can compete in all competitions.

In the other game Parma with a late penalty to snatch a point against Fiorentina, whom Juventus travel to midweek, that will proabably be the biggest test in the league thus far for Juve. But with some of the regular starters given a rest, we should be a little bit fresher.

Plenty of depth in this Juve squad as we saw last night. We know what Chievo have done in the past so to get the points is a bit of a relief. Also shows we can break these teams down. Good debut from Pogba and the others who came in also did a fine job.

Parma v Fiorentina was crazy, with both teams hitting the post, missing a penalty and then Parma netting their second penalty in injury time. Roncaglia's strike was quality.

Very shambolic situation in Cagliari. Their 'park turned into a stadium' has not passed security tests but Cellino wants Cagliari fans to still rock up as they have sold tickets. Looks like it will be postponed.

Catania hoodoo continues. Still no win for Napoli in Catania in Serie A, ever.

Played against 10 for 88 minutes & still we were never really threatening.

Cavani, Pandev, Insigne, Vargas & Hamsik all finished the game on the park so it was not through lack of trying, but personally i think having 4 or 5 forwards play together just restricts the fluency not to mention how vulnerable we become on the counter, we were lucky not to lose it at the death.

Neither Inter nor Milan have won at San Siro since the new hybrid artificial pitch was laid, managing three draws and five defeats between them. This is the first time in over three years that the two Milanese clubs have lost in Serie A on the same day.

Javier Zanetti had not been on the bench for a Serie A game for four years. He last put his feet up on September 13 2008 for Inter 2-1 Catania.

Lasting just 89 seconds, Pablo Alvarez received the quickest red card in Serie A since Federico Balzaretti’s 70 seconds for Palermo in February.

Juventus remain the only side with a 100 per cent record and for the 10th time win the opening four rounds.

Udinese finally marked their first win of the campaign after three draws and as many losses in all competition. Francesco Guidolin had never previously beaten Milan on the Friulani bench, drawing three and losing three. Mathias Ranegie took just 44 minutes of Serie A football to break his duck, having also played for four minutes against Siena.

Antonio Di Natale’s 155th top flight goal puts him on a par with Luis de Menezes Vinicio on 21st place in the all-time scorers’ charts, one shy of Gigi Riva, Roberto Mancini and Pippo Inzaghi.

Milan hadn’t lost two League matches on the bounce since April 2010 against Palermo and Sampdoria. It’s not the first time the Rossoneri have started with three defeats in the first four rounds, as it also happened in 1930-31, 1938-39 and 1940-41.

Stephan El Shaarawy has scored three Serie A goals in his career – all of them past Udinese.

Napoli have never managed to win a Serie A match in Catania, losing half of their 12 visits to the Stadio Massimino. It means the Partenopei cannot match their club record of starting a season with four straight wins, as they did in 1966-67 and 1987-88. Edinson Cavani marked his 100th game in a Napoli jersey.

Inter are without a home victory in all competition this season, managing two draws and three losses. Such a run hadn’t occurred since May 2003, when they notched up one defeat and four stalemates. The Nerazzurri have only kept one clean sheet, 0-0 with Atalanta on March 18, in their last 17 San Siro matches for a colossal 32 goals conceded.

Siena had never managed to beat Inter in Serie A, home or away, with 12 defeats (the last six in a row) and four draws. The Tuscans had not celebrated a Serie A victory since their 4-1 over Genoa on April 22, scraping four points from eight rounds. Simone Vergassola got his second goal of the season, the 29th overall, while Francesco Valiani took his total to four with his first strike since Parma 3-1 Siena in January.

Lazio had 20 attempts on goal against Genoa, but still failed to score. It’s the first time the Biancocelesti fired blanks in this fixture since a 0-0 on November 26 1989. The Aquile failed to find the net in only two of the last 19 home games, the other being 0-0 with Chievo in December, scoring 35 goals.

The Grifone had also conquered the Olimpico last season with a 2-1 result, so their Serie A record here now is five wins, 16 draws and 22 defeats. Genoa have won half of their last six visits to Rome, while Marco Borriello has scored five times in his seven games against Lazio. However, their last away win in Serie A was 2-0 at Siena on December 10 2011, followed by two points from 13 trips.

Juventus extended their unbeaten run to 27 wins and 16 draws, while their record at the new stadium is of 17 victories and seven stalemates. Fabio Quagliarella took his Serie A tally to 67 with his first brace since facing Catania on December 5 2010. Quagliagol has an average of a goal every 160 minutes of football since Antonio Conte took over.

The Bianconeri are slow burners, as they have scored nine of their 11 goals in the second half this season.

Chievo hadn’t lost three consecutive top flight games since October 2011. The Flying Donkeys have never conquered Turin in 11 attempts in all competition, losing seven and drawing four. Mimmo Di Carlo’s record in this city is of three defeats from six visits.

Fiorentina are unbeaten at the Stadio Tardini since a 2-0 result in 2007, followed by a win and four consecutive stalemates, three of them 1-1 results. Jaime Valdes has failed to score only two of his five Serie A penalties – both saved by Emiliano Viviano. The other was in Atalanta 1-1 Bologna on May 2 2010. Viviano has saved three out of 16 Serie A penalties in his career.

Facundo Roncaglia got his debut top flight goal at the fourth appearance. Stevan Jovetic failed to score his second spot-kick after Andrea Consigli saved his against Atalanta on April 29.

Sampdoria have scored in each of their last 17 games between Serie A, B and Coppa Italia for a total 29 goals. Nicola Pozzi’s 25th top flight goal was his first since Genoa 2-1 Sampdoria on May 8 2011. Torino have won only one of their last 21 Serie A away fixtures, 2-1 in Naples in 2009, along with 12 defeats and eight draws. The Granata’s clean sheet on their travels was broken after 329 minutes of football, although they hadn’t scored in 390 either.

Atalanta thank Cristian Raimondi’s first ever Serie A goal at the 61st game. The Orobici hadn’t scored at the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia in 297 minutes of football. Palermo extend their League winless streak to seven defeats and five draws, while they haven’t scored on their travels since a 2-2 at Cesena on April 22.

Bologna have scored in each of their last 12 Stadio Dall’Ara fixtures in all competition for a total 18 goals. Pescara’s Serie A record in Bologna is of three draws and one defeat in 1989, but including the other Leagues there was a 1987 victory, six stalemates and four losses. The Delfini also had to wait until Week 4 for their first point in 1979-80, that time a 0-0 with Ascoli.

Alberto Gilardino got his 149th top flight strike, but it was the first for Quintero after just 71 minutes of Serie A football. Gila hadn’t netted in two consecutive League games since March 2011.

A match between Cagliari and Roma was also called off with hours to spare on November 11 2007, when protests spread over the death of Lazio ultra Gabriele Sandri, who was shot by police in a motorway service station.

I agree pen was there, but you take the good with the bad.

A good point at Fiorentina who on the highlights looked very slick. Not many teams will get anything there this season.

Stat fact: Since Napoli’s return to the top flight Lazio have only won one game at the San Paolo, back in March 2009, when a Tommaso Rocchi second-half double secured three points.
