CICHANOWSKI SHIELD 2014

Post by lefty »

The 2013 Premier League winners from Saturday (BOSA) & Sunday (Parafield Gardens) will playoff for the Cichanowski Shield this Sunday 30th March at Bradman Road Parafield Gardens. The Shield is the first bit of silverware on offer at the start of the 50th SAASL season that will again open up the Saturday vs Sunday debate. Will we see a Sunday team continue its dominance or will we see a Saturday team finally get their hands on it, regardless it promises to be a great day of Amateur Soccer.

PARAFIELD GARDENS vs BOSA
C team - 11.30am KO
B team - 1.10pm KO
Cichanowski Shield - 3.00pm KO

Look forward to seeing a great crowd down at Bradman Road with full bar, canteen & BBQ facilities available & the presentation taking place in the clubrooms after the main game.

Should they look at renaming the Cichanowski Shield?

Cichanowski Shield to me has always been the Sunday Div 1 winner v Cup Winner

With the change now being Saturday Prem winner v Sunday Prem winner, should they shelve the Cichanowski Shield & rename it with a new title??
SAASL SUNDAY PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPION 2010 2011
SAASL CHALLENGE CUP WINNER 2008 2010 2011
SAASL CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS WINNER 2010

If that were the case, SAASL just give the Shield to Gardens who then could hold an internal game. :D

I actually agree with the change personally even if it does benefit the Saturday comp was never a fan of the Champions of Champions concept & the timing. I think the Cichanowski Shield is held in high asteem & is a sort after trophy as a prelude to the season. Alex's contriubution to the SAASL should be recognised especially now its Sat vs Sun league winners & his efforts in facilitating the strength & growth of both competitions seems fitting to me.

And more importantly the Shield has spent alot of time recently at the Gardens.

Congratulations to Parafield Gardens for their 2-1 win in the 2014 Cichanowski Shield. BOSA took the game right up to Parafield but unfortunately for them, BOSA weren't able to capitalise on their early chances and good build ups...eventually Gardens seemed to over-run the visitors as the game progressed.

PARAFIELD GARDENS vs BOSA
C's 1-3
B's 0-3

Cichanowski Shield
2-1 (1-1ht)
Goals - S Johnstone, J Tosovac, A Arambatzis

Congratulations to Duane & the boys on winning the first bit of silverware for 2014 & the SAASL 50th Year. Was a night a celebrations for Gardens with the cricketers also winning Grade 2 PDCA final yesterday to top off a great 2013 for the club. Thanks to BOSA for bringing all 3 teams down today & enjoying the hospitality after a great contest. All the best for the season especially with your new home at Prospect.

Sunday is still better than Saturday :D

playing at Kane Reserve now, funnily that horrible pitch at the school is the best its looked in years with no cricket pitch in it now. Still have the first few weeks at the school though i believe until the new grounds are ready.

Not far away - on Churchill Road.

The school pitch has improved over the last couple of years.

I think that's the one I'm thinking of. Propect Juniors (??) play cricket there.
