Link to all Southern Knights v Tea Tree Gully photos
A bit of a delayed report due to me not feeling too well and having meetings Monday and Tuesday night.
Apologise for the grainy photos but it was a bit overcast and my camera struggles in those conditions.
Cheers to Gully Boyz for saying hello and best of luck to Gully for the rest of the season.
Tea Tree Gully took the long journey south to O'Sullivan Beach to challenge Southern Knights for 3 points that were vital
for both teams to stay in contact with Division 2 leaders Vikings, West Beach and Elizabeth Grove.
The first half was end to end football with both teams having their chances bringing out the best from both keepers.
After the half time break Gully took the lead following what seemed to be a blatant 2-handed push in the back on a Knights defender.
Knights pleaded with the referee and I think that even Gully were surprised as the goal stood and to give them a 0-1 lead.
30 seconds later Knights had the ball in the back of Gully's net only to find that the referee had pulled the game back and awarded a free kick to Knights ?
To their credit Knights kept to the task at hand and forged an equaliser ten minutes through Tony Micallef.
Theere was plenty of entertaining football and some crunching tackles and challenges by both sides.
A draw was probably a fair result, but both teams would be rueing the opportunity to narrow the gaps at the head of the Division 2 table.

Reserves -Southern Knights ( 0 ) Tea Tree Gully ( 1 )
The Reserves game was a contest in which Tea Tree Gully dominated the first half yet still presented Knights with a few opportunities to score.
Gully took the lead mid way through the first half with a well taken goal and it remained at 0-1 till half time.
After the break Knights came out with a bit more urgency and started to string passes together.
It took an excellent save from Gully's keeper pushing a Paul Thompson strike onto the cross bar, to maintain Gully's lead.
The game flowed from end to end but no further goals were scored giving Gully a 0-1 win.
