Southern Knights journeyed to Modbury Vista in search of vital points to keep them in striking distance of the Division 2 leaders. It was an important game for both teams at the half way point of the season. Knights started without key players Scott Bradley and Sandy Neary due to illness.
Vista began on the front foot and established a 1-0 lead very quickly from the start leaving Knights somewhat shell-shocked.
The visitors managed to lift themselves and were able to quickly level the score at 1-1 with a good strike from Chris Bradley and it remained level at the half time break.
Modbury Vista and Knights both had opportunities to put themselves in front but weren’t able to capitalize on their efforts.
With about 15 minutes to go David Mooney was able to put Knights in front with a long range effort. Meanwhile, Matty Harrison, Lee White, Tom Jolly and Steve Vickerman held firm in defence for Knights to keep Vista at bay.
Both teams had further opportunities to add to the scoreline but the game finished 1-2 to Southern Knights.
Knights would like to thank Modbury Vista for their hospitality however they offer their apologies as the long journey and their Tonsley Hotel sponsorship arrangement makes it difficult to stay behind too long.

Vista try in vain the level the scoreline in a game that was fairly well handled by the referee.

Modbury Vista looked the more settled side in the Reserve fixture today as Southern Knights adjusted their side following injuries, unavailability and sickness.
Rumour has it that two of Knights bench had a total age of ~108 years between them ?
Despite the odds Knights held together quite well and established an early lead.
Vista were able to level the score courtesy of a somewhat “soft” penalty.
The score remained level until midway through the second half when Jets found their way through Knights defence and slotted the ball passed keeper Ben Vidgeon.
Knights were reduced to 10 men after a second yellow card was given to Paul Thompson and despite the numerical imbalance, the visitors almost levelled the score several times in the closing stages.
