Post by swannsong »

Some interesting games this week.

USC Lion v Elizabeth Vale
Ingle Farm v Para Hills East
Pontian Eagles v Elizabeth Downs
Salisbury Florina v Parafield Gardens
Para Hills West v West Beach

Think I'll wander down to Ridley Grove Primary School on Sunday to watch Pontians v Downs !

USC Lion v Elizabeth Vale 0-2
Vale to beat lio even with the loss they will still be very competative this year, never write em off
Ingle Farm v Para Hills East 2-0
Farm are a quality outfit this year no doubt about it, will beat east comfortably and keep a clean sheet
Pontian Eagles v Elizabeth Downs 0-2
Pontian Good, Downs Better
Salisbury Florina v Parafield Gardens 0-1
Gardens will have to work hard to get this one but if they can get their bums into gear they will grab a couple and do the job
Para Hills West v West Beach 1-1
Both good teams will be a very technical game with good skills on show, pleanty of clean crisp passing. Westies will be unlucky not to fetch a win here.

Lion vs Vale - Lion will bounce back from last weeks disapointing 2nd half display to lift against one of the top sides. We had some cracking games against Vale last year and this should be no different. One 2-2 thriller in the league, which we gave away a 2 goal lead. And a goal fest in the cup, when we were down 4-0 in the first 30 mins and down to ten men, but fought back to 4-3, only to lose 5-3. Russy Hunt will be licking his lips that Brookesy is gone, he rated him as the hardest striker to mark in the league.

Ingle Farm vs Para Hills East - Its going to take a very impressive side to beat the Farm this season. Going on past results, i cant see East beating them. Who will be dropped for the impressive M Clarke who returns from the states this week? Or will he sit on the bench? Simmo has the tough task of keeping so many first team regulars happy, but im sure he is not losing any sleep at night :)

Pontian vs Downs - Downs bounced back last week whilst Pontians are still winless in 2008. Hard to go past the Downs in this one, should be to strong and fit for the Eagles. Having said that, if pontian get a few early goals they might just hang on.

Salisbury Florina vs Parafield Gardens - Both coming off losses, its still hard to judge where these two teams are at. Going on last years results, Florina triumphed at home 3-1 but lost away 3-2. Expect a close one and a good BBQ at Underdown Park.

Para Hills West vs West Beach - Westies have started the season off well and should win this one providing they put their chances away. West Beach have a side who fight all day and if their holding midfielder is accounted for then Westies should win comfortably.

My pick for game of the day is Lion v Vale. I think there will be at least five goals scored and that Lion will be too good at their home ground.

I also predict someone will cop a fair bit of banter from the East boys and that Gary Aitken will have recovered from his broken ribs to win the Thorn in the Side 6 pack. Yes Gaz, I will ask JayWalking to make it Coronas.

We don't normally stock Coronas but I can do a special order for Gaz if thats what he wants.

Two very tough games to pick this round. Lion and Vale will be interesting. Hard to pick that one. Gardens V's Florina will be a tough one to. Gardens in theory should win but are they in form. Florina have had only the one win but as long as they dont cop too many injuries, they will get better as they go along.

The great man Paul Jones back this week to. Pup Clarke is back from the USA. He and Lara Bingle had a good trip away. We may lose his though to the Indian Premier League.

Simmo doesn't sleep anyway :D

If it is who I think it is he will definitely strengthen what is already an extremely strong defence.

Mario Staltari going to the farm. Simmo will definately find a spot for him in the starting eleven. Sounds like someone will be forced out and left unhappy, but that's the nature of a good football team. Any coach would love to be spoilt with the choice of players he has at his disposal. As for Jones, will he gain a spot?
