Re: Finals Week 2
Thanks again Lucas Leiva. Well written account of the game. It just sounds like the top four were very evenly matched and that there was a fine line between success and failure. I am hoping that there is a live stream of the Grand Final. Good luck to all the teams contesting Grand Finals. No probs ...

Re: Finals Week 2
Was only last night but let me try and remember... An amazing come from behind effort from Adelaide City last night when Metro had all but shut up shop and had one foot in next week's final. There was a personnel change for Metro this week with Roxy Dodd starting in a front two, and Kristy Moore sta...

Re: Finals-Week 1
City v Uni City raced to a 3-0 lead before Uni pulled two back in the second half, making for a tense finish. Even though the scoreline matched the Cup Final, the game was considerably different. Gone was the breathtaking pace and in was a little more of a strategic approach from both sides. Both cr...

Re: CUP FINAL
Thought numbers were great Friday night at the Parks for the Cup Final especially given the weather. Both good, close exciting games that could have gone either way for the clubs involved. Didn't catch the Sunday games unfortunately but hope they had good numbers and matches. Great crowd. To go dow...

Ivan and Michael will be a great pairing and a great environment for the players to learn in and compete.
I see nothing but positives here.

Re: Week 1 Finals Thread
FFSA probably do have too many expenses and probably "over administer" and as such could probably pull back on costs to clubs, and thus freeing up more sponsorship/prize money to go to clubs so maybe the problem is beyond such a simplistic thing as "clubs should do more". Get a ...

Re: 2017 WNPL Minor Premiers
Let's focus on the football. Two great games at The Parks with Campbelltown finally taking it to one of the established sides and ending on a relative high, and a dramatic late win for Metro that saw the most incredible four way finish in recent memory if ever. One point between first and fourth is ...

Re: WNPL
Just come back from a big trip to the US I believe. So no predictions on how Friday night will finish up? West Adelaide to finish top. Metro will beat City and West will beat Cumby. Going back to next year, i think the FFSA should leave the WNPL as is for one more year. It will allow Campletown som...

Re: WNPL
The reason why some teams play at certain venues more than others is because four teams are allocated The Parks as their home pitch and four teams are allocated The Shores as theirs. That allocation depends on the geographical placing of teams. For example, Para Hills and Adelaide University were al...

Matildas 1 USA 0
Congratulations to the Matildas on creating history today. Even though she didn't come on, it would be a fantastic feeling to be a part of the squad right now for Alex Chidiac. Also, special shoutout to former Red Abby Dahlkemper who played for the US, and (recent) Red Sofia Huerta who has switched ...

Re: on the grape vine
My point is you don't have to be registered with a specific body to be eligible for a call up. Yes you do. SAASL is not recognised by FIFA and as such you cannot play in FIFA sanctioned competition. I'm sure there are throngs of players in SAASL missing out on the chance to represent their nations ...

Re: on the grape vine
Have heard an agreement is close. Also hearing though that clubs would have to agree to it. Would have to be a pretty good deal for clubs to agree to it surely. Aside from playing in the federation cup, what's in it for clubs to join that joke organisation? well, for one you could officially repres...

Re: Adelaide Titans
I reckon for each of the eight years that I played in SAASL, there was at least one first-hand pitch invasion or stories of pitch invasions each season. In fact, I would dare say every club has probably experienced a similar incident in the last 5 years and probably shouldn't be picking on Titans or...

Re: WLeague Coach
Great appointment. A young, local coach with vast experience already under his belt, experience at AUFC, and a good working relationship with the coaching community across the state. I'm sure he will spend the time getting to know the local WNPL talent over the next two months before the season conc...

Re: Adelaide United looking for a new home for W league
I don't think you'll see the FFSA "punish" the WNPL because of the actions of a privately run club (AUFC). They handed control back over last year and have reduced their costs significantly as a result. The FFSA do a good trade on Friday nights in what would otherwise be two empty venues a...

Re: Socceroos are coming to town..
Let's be realistic. If the Wallabies came to town with no promotion, you'd probably find 10,000 at the game. When the Socceroos come to town with no promotion, you'd still get 20-30,000 easily. Advertising will get us an extra 15-20,000. I'm sure there will be a bunch of people on Thursday saying &q...

Re: Round 11
This round may very well see the separation of the top and bottom four extend to 11 points. Two very tangible "mini leagues" forming with Cumby, Fulham and Inter all within a point of the relegation playoff spot, and the Top 4 all within 4 points of each other. Perhaps one of the tighter r...

WNPL - Review after Round 7
I thought I'd try and jump start a thread about actual football. Now that a third of the season has passed, we've seen each team play each other and probably have a better idea of who will be challenging for the title, who will be challenging for the finals, who might be a dark horse, and who might ...
