Re: Has the standard of U18's gone backwards
Not sure about going backwards but I have been disappointed with the standard of 18s State League where my son plays (debut year). Most teams are not precise in their play, struggle to use width, move the ball slowly, and are weak in possession. Creativity is sorely lacking. A few just kick the ball...

Re: Please remove inappropriate pictures on Junior Football
The quality of conversation on these forums is sometimes so disappointing, you expect the bar to be low and then you find some people have moved it lower with mindless rubbish, if that continues I think silence will soon reign. Makes a case for properly moderated forums.

Re: Junior Fees
OK, I don't know the fees payable to FFSA, the link below may help or perhaps do a search on these forums.
http://www.sportingpulse.com/get_file.cgi?id=2901065
Imagine each club retains the majority of the fee after expenses.

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
Putting the pieces together it seems a club (maybe ABE, but could be another club) complained that the African / dark skinned boys of Croydon may be over-age hence FFSA investigated and found that one boy's (self) registration birth year was stated as 1999, though previously it was recorded as 2000,...

Re: Junior Fees
If they are club delegates / registrars / junior coordinators (or similar) they may (ie should) do but not sure how many on here hold those roles and are sufficiently in the know, may be quicker and more effective to speak with a competitions coordinator at FFSA or someone at your own club who deals...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
Yes rossonero there could well be a rat in the pack there at Croydon who knew the situation (whilst others did not or turned a blind eye) and spilled the beans to an opposing team, for some advantage, maybe a jar of jelly beans? I would say likely to be a disaffected soul or a sore loser who had ins...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
We all await the account of what actually happened from TWG who may be waiting for any appeal by Croydon before telling us about the facts. Or maybe New Boy On The Block knows what happened? Whether it was ABE, AC or a sleepy koala, someone identified that the kid in question was not (can't have bee...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
OK TWG irrespective of your concerns with the comments of Sacred Noodle and report of an abusive Croydon parent which are secondary to the topic here you seem well versed in the facts of this case (ie re: unregistered player) hence can you explain how (ie not by whom) the transgression was identifie...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
TWG can you tell us how the transgression was prompted and identified at this time (not by whom, as there is no need to personalise)? The player played for 10 rounds or so + cup assumedly with a rego number (recorded on team-sheet) and nothing eventuated until now. In this way everyone can learn how...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
And reminds us all to get the facts before making accusations, avoid assumptions and be careful the sources you use. Of course we are all keen to know how this transgression was identified, if it was by the FFSA then it is understandable, though how did it slip through for half a season, but if it w...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
Not arguing about proof or rules rossonero, so assume if the complainant (and/or FFSA) had proof then why didn't the player or club have that also? Where did the proof come from? The player is not new..... And if the FFSA has sufficient proof then what does the club have to do now?? Feel sorry you w...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
Sorry rossonero I disagree, the club Adelaide City made a wilful complaint because they lost, end of story. The player has played games against other sides (apart from Campbelltown) with zero complaint, win, lose or draw. So in that sense it is / was a level playing field, unless of course you are a...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
Fair comments rossonero and Sacred Noodle. The plot thickens here as the onus of proof is not on the player / club but it is for FFSA to prove otherwise, which I suspect they cannot do. The player's (or parent/carer) evidence (including as provided to Australian immigration) has to be relied on when...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
Agree with rossonero, why has it taken so long to identify and 'prove' it? I assume there was a complaint raised by a club that lost to Croydon which was then investigated by FFSA? If the player was played with Croydon reasonably understanding the kid was of correct age (maybe via parents, carers et...

Comets 15 JPL team seeking a trial game II
Comets 15s JPL team is keen to do a full-length trial game preferably with a 15s or ideally 16s team (any div) on Tuesday 10 June at Ellis Park or other venue (say from 6.30 or 7pm), in part to give several players recovering from injury game time. Drop me (John) a text 0400 805 233 if you are inter...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
Big over-reaction by a few people with a little common sense in between. The players would not be concerned at the situation just a few over-zealous parents perhaps. More important that players get to play and against tough but not over-the-top opponents. One player over-age will usually not make a ...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points
That is an unfortunate situation but can and does happen, and sometimes deliberately for advantage. Junior competition should be focussed on player development and quality of performance. If Croydon has regularly played over-age players in 14s then perhaps the loss of all points is currently the onl...

Re: Aggresive players and coaches
The issues can be addressed progressively by affirmative action by the clubs backed by the FFSA, starting with a code of conduct explained prior to the season to all parents (at team meetings) and yellow/red card warnings for any reported misconduct where a parent needs to explain their actions to a...

Re: WEST TORRENS BIRKALLA U14 JPL Player Position
Don't worry mancity, jesta only offering reasonable input to the problem. I guess Birkalla would ideally love to get a top player who may be at a loose end, disgruntled or maybe not even playing club, it is possible and worth a shot. Maybe you need to dangle the carrot a little more by suggesting wh...

Re: Aggresive players and coaches
Generational change and constant education / reinforcement are the main solutions, disappointed to hear about the bad player behaviour but I can only assume (hope) strong refereeing dealt with most of those on-field issues. My son plays 15A JPL and there has not been many real bad incidents at our g...

Re: too young for u18?
Fair comments matty2323 but I think you will find 'game' training (depending on how you define it) continues into 18s and perhaps beyond. There are players aged 13-14 that are more advanced in game intelligence than many I have seen in the 16s and 17s, and these are often readier to play 18s than th...

Re: too young for u18?
No minimum age or hard rules as such, depends on the level and maturity of the player. Several clubs have 14-15 year olds playing 18s NPL and doing well. The current NTC (state) squad of 1999 born players is in the 18s NPL comp and competing effectively against more experienced and bigger players / ...

Re: So my phone was stolen today...
Don't think you can blame Raiders or any club to take care of the gear of visiting junior teams, they need to manage that themselves, and appreciate that change-rooms are a shared resource. Bad luck agentofjustice, it is not really practical for clubs to have security on ref change rooms, one would ...

Re: Preliminary Cup Fixtures Why?
Agree the comment above, it makes no sense to have gross mismatches and potential contenders playing each other in a preliminary or qualifying round of the cup. Surely it is for the JSL and C division teams to qualify to get into round 1? You would think there is a rationale to the draw for the 15s ...
