Re: What's a GOOD junior coach worth?

At my district cricket club the coaches get $300 to $500 each, which most put back into the club kitty anyway. This is for 2 sessions a week and the game on the weekend, and we all know how long a game of cricket goes for. Coaching should be done for the enjoyment and satisfaction of making the kids...

Re: The Purpose of Junior Football ?

The time wasting is becoming increasingly frustrating and I can't believe the coaches condone it. I would love to see a rule brought in where you are not able to make a sub in the last 5 minutes of the game unless a player is seriously injured. There is no added time in junior football so if a sub w...

Re: volunteers.... the good, the bad and the ugly.

Unfortunately you have these kind of supporters in every sport and they do my head in. Its not that difficult to fix though. For my lads team the manager sends out a linesman roster at the start of the season with every players Dad listed on it. If you don't know the rules you learn them, if you can...

Re: 52 weeks of football

I know the SACA state cricket teams from U15's up train nearly all year but the district clubs certainly have at least 4 months off of training and there is 6 months between seasons. Basketball from under 10's up play all year, having a winter and summer season. Obviously they are advantaged by play...

Might help if you knew the full story Jesta before shooting your gob off !!! Numerous under 13's are being rotated through the 14's every game to give them experience for next season and beyond. The 14s have lost a few players since the start of the season to injuries, skilleroos and afl. Tell me wh...

Under 14 Cup

Ive noticed that in the under 14 cup in this round of 32 there is one team allocated a bye. Anyone have any ideas how the FFSA are going to narrow this down. Will now be down to last 17, instead of 16 !! Would have thought this needed to be sorted before the previous round of 64 or they going to let...

Fair reason also Coach-M. All this club hopping by players and parents in football is rediculous. Along with Player chopping by clubs to try and win the league next season. Not sure why clubs and players dont try and keep a squad together for many seasons to try and develop the club culture that wil...

Re: Jory reports 1 million kids can't afford to play sport

Heres a couple more examples of the restrictions faced by clubs. Birks found a park nearby that is rarely used for anything. Applied to the council to put in some small pitches and a couple of lights so the youngsters could train and play there. Low and behold the local residents start a petition to...

Re: Jory reports 1 million kids can't afford to play sport

So true JD. One of the biggest issues is space. Out at Para Hills last week and the space available is what needs to be available to all communities. You may be interested that a sporting club I am involved with tried to have a similar space made available down Marion way and the council in their wi...

Re: Query on Campbelltown U16

Again Beach, Birkalla are struggling to field a team on Sundays and are juggling things as best they can. As previously mentioned FFSA have instructed them they must field a team. So that answers your question about what FFSA are doing. I assume if you are an opposition player / parent having to cha...

Re: Query on Campbelltown U16

Regarding Birkalla Under 16s I believe they are playing on days other than sundays so they can actually get a team on the park. I believe this team is made up of U15s, and U16s that are playing higher up. They are short on numbers in U16s and are having to juggle players around between a few teams. ...

Re: Taping/recording junior matches is it allowed

Correct, it is permitted. As long as whatever is recorded is for "private" use only. Ie. Cant be published on you tube and so forth. We had this issue at cricket a couple of years ago and now recommend if anyone plans to record the game for a long period of time as a matter of courtesy the...

Re: U11s to u12s

Makes sense Toffee. Im not sure if there are an even number of teams in each under 12 zone this year. Last season they were uneven so to make up the U13 JPL this season they took from U12 last season the top 3 from the south, top 4 from the north and top 5 from central. Resulting in 12 teams in U13 ...

I agree with all the above. Although it is difficult when your lad loves and is decent at both summer and winter sports yet gets told by his soccer club that at 12 years of age soccer training is expected to take precedence over any other sporting activity, even during the summer. Tough call for a 1...

Pre Season Training Already

It seems many juniors have started pre season a few weeks ago. The first game is still 4 months away!! Is this a good thing or should they be enjoying their summer sports with their mates.? Re: No debate about "Don't milk (junior) cash cow" column

Out of curiousity does the FFSA or FFA provide any annual grants to clubs? I'm involved with a district cricket club, of which there are 13 in Adelaide, and SACA ( South Australian Cricket Association) provide an annual grant of $50k. Its quite a long process to get the grant and you must justify wh...

Under 13s in 2013

I hear there will be 12 teams in Under 13 JPL Div A next season. Does that mean the 13s will be made up of
JPL Div A - 12 teams
JPL Div B - ? teams
JSL

I suppose 12 teams is a good number with 22 rounds being played as maybe not quite enough teams to make up 3 JPL divisions.

Which clubs have a junior technical director and who are they?
Who is it at Birkalla Enzo?
I agree it is an important position, but will only work if all the coaches pulling in the same direction.
