Heard on the grapvine Farm were killing them in the first half but were trailing 0-1. Would like to hear a match report from someone who was at the game.

Farm were losing 2-0 after 2 good goals and to be fair the pitch was about as good as you are going to get anywhere right now. Bit of saw dust never hurt anyone. The farm boys did play some good football but so did Marion. A classic cup tie.

2-0 at half time. 2-2 at full time (cracking strike to pull it to 2-1 by the number 12 I think)

Chances either side to finish it off. An awesome save by the Sturt keeper in the first minute of extra time in hind sight probably won it for them.

Extra time was tight. Penalty's was (as always) a tight affair and was not helped by the fact the ref seemed to be making it up as he went along. Some great penalty's, some not so great but in the end Sturt came out on top. The Sturt keeper (Scottish I think his name is) deserves special mention for keeping his cool when it was all going mental.

Both sides deserve credit for a well fought cup game.

Agree with There's Only One it; was a typical cup tie. Sturt had it won at 2-0, the Farm had control at 2-2 but the Sturt keeper Scott won it on penalties. Every ball he got his hands to was a save whilst the Farm keeper got good purchase on two shots but they trickled in for goals.

Both teams had a lot of chances to win it in the last 10 of normal time and all of extra-time. The last save by Scotty from the penalty was amazing, looking at the video, it was a pretty good penalty - hard and high. Scotty just somehow got his arm up and Sturt are through to the semis. It was a brilliant match to watch.

You heard correct Col. Grove played an excellent counter-attacking style of football that lead to 3 of their 4 goals. Pontians lacked the spark to try and get back into the contest despite missing 2 absolute sitters from 6 yards out late in the game. The usual stars for Pontians but unfortunately they didn't have 11 of them.

Fulham Utd 0 - West Beach 1 - reserve's cup

Very close game which could have gone either way - beach scored a good goal from a header inside 18 yard box while we hit the bar 3 times. Not too many chances at either end - just a good hard game. We are dissapointed to lose, but hope beach go on and now win the cup.

It is nice to know we have done Ok against the 4 sunday div 1 teams we have had to play in the cup to get to where we did. Anyway, now for second spot in the league and maybe we can get another crack against you guys next season in Div 1

Gardens 0 Inter 0 AET 0-0 Gardens 3-1 on penalties

Great game today by both clubs. Great to play Inter again as they always put up a good contest. Both teams had chances to win the game in normal time & through out ET.

Always pressure in a penalty shoot & Matty P came out on top :D

Cheers to the Inter lads who hang around for a few & look forward to that rivalry next year when you return to Div 1

Move onto the semis now & hopefully we can turn a disappointing season so far in the league into some silverware in September :D

Sturt Marion V Ingle Farm (First Team)

After taking a packed lunch for the trip on a Saturday to Marion, we arrive to find the pitch pretty muddy and having 3 different areas covered in saw dust. I'm guessing it was because it was just to muddy. We didnt have any problems playing the game as their was no game on beforehand and both teams were going to have to contented with the pitch. It was also a very small pitch which was going to make it difficult to referee.

We dominated the opening 20 mintues with a few really good chances which we should of scored at least one. Marion had a throw in in their attack and the long throw skidded passed everyone, took a deflection and went pass our keeper and into the net for a goal. Sturt settled a bit and came into the game more. From the start they played with 1 up front, 4 in the middle and 5 in defence. We knew that we needed to score to try and bring them out of their own half. A soft freekick resulted in a corner which the Sturt player was left unmarked for an easy header to make it 2 nil. We couldn't believe it, all the play, all the chances and 2 nil down. Sturt had some good chances for the counter attack and could of even scored another goal.

After half time we lifted the intensity a bit more and scored through Dave Ennis. A great first time effort from outside the box which beat the keeper. This gave us more of a spark and
we pushed looking for more. Again, we had the majority of chances with about 4 close range chances been missed. Paul Jones bobbed up for the equaliser and again, more chances to win it, no goals.

Extra time we looked the goods in the first as the Sturt boys cramped up. The second half they looked like they were going to survive to a shoot out as we couldn't break down the heavily loaded defence.

The shoot out was great drama with Robbie Greenwood making a great first up save. A few misses and saves by both keepers brought it to sudden death penalities. Sturts keeper kept moving off his line before the kick was finally stopped at the 6th kick, which he complained about. I think the kick was taken 4 times lol. He had nothing to complain about as he was moving a long time before hand but wasn't picked up earlier so the consistancy wasnt there from the ref. He did though come up with a cracking save to deny Farmer Joe and then Sturt scored with their kick to win the game. We got stuck into the keeper a bit during the game but credit to him as he really was the reason that Sturt won the game. Good banter with him and the Sturt boys but they were gracious in victory.

Good luck to Sturt as they are a very good side and would push for top spot in Sat Div 1. As for us, just the story of our season, didnt take our chances. Having a chat to a few Sturt boys and they agreed we dominated play and chances but unfortunately for us, its goals that win games. Our guys ran their guts out and put everything on the line but it didnt work out. They are extremely disappointed that we wont win anything in the first team this season but they can hold their heads high as they did themselves proud with their efforts and commitment. Our coaches can do the same as they left nothing to chance for this game and once the game starts, their is nothing they can do. Well done to Simo, Leggy and Billy for the year but it just wasn't meant to be.

Goldstone is a gun! By far Sturts best player they have but MOM for Sturt would of have to of been their keeper.

A few problems with some Wanderers supporters who came down to watch and had a go at a few of our boys. Disappointing considering there are a lot of us who go to support them and double their crowd numbers from 6 to 12. Still you cant teach intellegence and I know those guys have are going to get a blast from their coach this week. We've already had text messages apologising for what they said and how they acted.

Two final points, the Sturt crowd was great and had no problems with them in a tight game. We we extremely disappointed but a few of us hung around, drank what was left of the alcohol they were selling and then went upstairs to the sports club. We would of had a good 20-25 people there when they went to do their presentation but we weren't invited in. They partioned it off and basically left us by ourselves. It was a long way to come on a day that we don't normally play on so some hospitality would of been nice. We do provide food to players, have awards to opposition clubs and invite them to be involved in our presentation. Maybe it was an oversight as they were caught up in the emotion of the win. We have had some hard, tough games against the Downs, Vale, Westies, East and all of them have welcomed us into their clubrooms as we have theres. Just a suggestion for you guys anyway and maybe Saturday teams dont hang around after games so you weren't expecting us there. No matter what the reason, it could of been done better.

My final thing was that I found out after the game that only one of the linesman was an offical. They other was a club linesman. So why did I pay for having two officals?? I want my $20 back.

Again, well done to Sturt Marion and good luck with their quest for the double.

PS, thanks for letting me win the raffle  The vodka will help us to drown our sorrows.

Semi Final draw SHOULD be done tomorrow you would think being only 8 teams left. But then it is the Amateur league.

Well done to Fulham ressies...They played well and were very unlucky on the day. Hit the bar three times and our keeper pulled off a couple of decent saves..On a different day, Fulham would have won 3-1. I can see why they have beat 3 div1 sides so far in the cup.

I still don't know how we won that one, we didn't play well at all and didn't really get out of 1st gear.We lost four players from the previous Cup game and maybe that disturbed the balance of the side. A few players had to play who hadn't trained for weeks and a few were playing injured but we battled on(as we always do)...It wasn't a pretty game at all!

Good Luck to Fulham for the rest of the season..They deserved a better result yesterday!!But that is Football

It was a great game considering, the players we had missing(Dobric, L.Smith, Goran, Pauly Waters the list goes on) and have had missing for the whole year. Terrific fight from the lads who stepped in and those who came out of retirement just for the game.

0-0 at half time, the second half exloded into life! I didnt see the first scorer for us 1-0. Florina hit back soon after to make it 1-1. Bannard with a header made it 2-1 for us. Then two send offs for a scuffle were one player only appeared to be throwing punches. Anyhow 1 player from each team was sent off. Florina scored right at the death to send it to extra time. We again grabbed the lead in extra time, only for florina to cancel out for the third time in the game. Levic with the fourth goal and it was class, the keeper lobbed from virtually halfway to make it 4-3 us. Surely we couldnt give away the lead for a fourth time, but we did and it ended 4-4. Game going to Penalties, the battle of the nerves and we prevailed in an epic cup tie. Well done to Florina pushed us all the way, but what an terrific win by the boys that one was special.

Well done to Westies over 35s for not letting the free scoring Downs 35s have too many opportunities. Not surprising that they have the best defensive record in the league if they can shut a team like that down. Best of luck to them for the final.

Any one know what happened in the other tie?
