Love the Inter fans chant on way to stadium 'City cheats, F... off, cheats, f... off'!
I'm sure NOC will thank you for that stat- given that he is such a fan!eagleboy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 2:13 pm Fun fact
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has also trusted in Sterling for their first Champions League match of the season away at Atalanta, bringing him on in the second half of the goalless draw.
And by stepping onto the pitch on 72 minutes at the Gewiss Stadium, the 29-year-old has achieved a feat that had never been reached before.
Sterling has become the first player to play for four different English clubs in the history of the Champions League.
Very good performance from Celtic and they are beginning to look like a proper team again. Too early to get overly excited at this level as they face sterner tests, especially on their travels. That said Rodgers has the team hounding the opposition down when not in possession and Daizen Maeda epitomises this. If he could show more composure in front of goal and when crossing (sometimes wasteful), he would command a huge transfer fee. He is still relatively young and under Rodgers
How's their goal difference now?thebeautifulgame wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 6:18 pmVery good performance from Celtic and they are beginning to look like a proper team again. Always said that success for Celtic in the CL is reaching the second stage of the competition and the new format (plus the favourable draw) certainly improves their chances of achieving this.

-2 goals but more importantly we still have 3 points, not that bad after two CL games. At this rate we will qualify for the next stage with 12 points and -25 goals!Popeye Magoo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 11:24 amHow's their goal difference now?thebeautifulgame wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 6:18 pmVery good performance from Celtic and they are beginning to look like a proper team again. I wholeheartedly agree with you- but I don't make the rules up or the coefficient of each country competing in the European club competitions.Bodø Glimt wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 4:18 am It's still a joke that you can waltz into this league when we beat you home and away and still have to go through a host of qualifying rounds.

Some big bucks to be made in the CL- even if you are bang average. The down side is the amount of games to be played-
not sure this will be sustainable in future years.

With Rodri missing and an old midfield, with KDB not looking fully fit, their defence is exposed and it's not as good as it was. Walker is definitely slowing.
Is what is playing out behind the scenes taking its toll on the playing group..?? None of them want to play Championship football next yearNice One Cyril wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 7:13 amWith Rodri missing and an old midfield, with KDB not looking fully fit, their defence is exposed and it's not as good as it was. Still very good players and still a very good team, but looking jaded.
I wouldn't be writing them off just yet. They got done 4-0 by Spurs, but Haaland hit the bar and had two decent efforts saved. They were 3-0 and cruising last night and somehow let it slip. It's just not falling for them at the moment.haywood djablowme wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 11:35 amIs what is playing out behind the scenes taking its toll on the playing group..?? Poor start to be 2 down after 5 minutes. Celtic gets themselves back into the match and then poor defending loses the match.thebeautifulgame wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 6:37 am Can see Celtic struggling this morning away to Aston Villa as they are without the suspended Maeda, the injured Carter- Vickers and Kyogo, who has just recently been transferred. Would wish players such as Yang and Idah could perform well v Villa but I don't think they are up to that level.
The very best we can hope for is a draw (most likely 0-0) but I think a narrow loss wouldn't be too damaging as we have made qualification to the next stage.
I fancy Villa to win 2-0 to a rather dull Celtic side.
