We play Japan next week in a qualifier. Hard to believe its 2009 the last time Australia beat Japan.

They haven't been able to defeat Japan in the last nine meetings, with Japan winning six of them and the rest being drawn.

:(

Its because you insulted them with a disrespectful banner. They will never forget.

Japan 🇯🇵 7 China 🇨🇳 0. What will happen to Australia 🇦🇺 when they go to Tokyo?
you should be more worried about what will happen to them when they go to Indonesia

Japan are in a different league, they're not your peers in football terms.
Well that prediction was wrong. 1-1 was the result at a full Saitama Stadium in Japan 🇯🇵.

A massive loss for Australias WC campaign.

Harry Souttar will be sidelined for up to a year with an Achilles tendon injury, ruling him out of the remainder of the Socceroos’ 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Agree. Harry’s height will be missed, as will his tackles. And his distribution had improved markedly.

What’s with all the Dutchmen in the Indonesian team?

A bit dodgy!

Funny match. Outdone for possession and shots, but got the chocolates bigtime. Need Japan to beat Bahrain right now.

It was once a Dutch colony and may have descendants from that era. Indonesia was the first Asian nation to participate at the World Cup when if played as the Dutch East Indies in 1930.

Agree. They killed us in midfield and could have been 2-0 up had it not been for Ryan in good form in goal. Kluivert had them playing a good style.

The FiveAAFL brekky mob also wondered about the Dutch connection, but the Dutch were the colonisers of the Dutch East Indies and Indonesia 🇮🇩. Radio FiveAAFL also didn’t know that as long as a player has been naturalised and has not played at senior level for another country then he can be capped for that country. He then cannot play for another country.

Well bad luck to the Indonesian's stacking their team with dutchmen naturalised to play for them.

They were better off with their native born and bred players.

Doesn't eligibility go back to grandparents? I think the Aussies have done that a few times???

F*c*ing FFA TV deal.

China 🇨🇳 v OZ 🇦🇺 9.30pm Tuesday 25 March not on free-to-air TV so the majority of the population won’t be able to watch their National Team in that World Cup Qualifier.

At least training won't have to be cancelled.

Very sarcastic, Mr Magoo. (Sarcasm being the lowest form of wit). I doubt many local clubs are still training at 9.30pm.

Who knows, a few local league players and officials might be interested in watching THEIR Nation’s World Cup Qualifier.

OR If they haven’t got Paramount bloody + they might venture to the Arkaba and watch on that pub’s giant screen. I think Para Hills Community Club and Salisbury North Football Club might also have Paramount bloody + too.

With Japan playing Saudi's, it is imperative the Socceroos win to give them a buffer for their last two matches.

How easy for New Zealand. All they had to do is beat New Caledonia to make WC finals.

Japan 🇯🇵 0 Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 0.

China 🇨🇳 0 Australia 🇦🇺 2.

Australia on 13 points with a +7 goal difference.

Saudi on 10 points with a -2 goal difference.

Australia have to get something out of the two matches in June and qualify for the 2026 World 🌎 🌍 Cup Finals.

Australia v. Japan 7.30pm Thursday 5 June, on free-to-air TV. (Eyes will also be on Bahrain 🇧🇭 v. Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 at the same time).

Then finally Saudi v. Australia 🇦🇺 7.30pm Tuesday 10 June, NOT on-free-to-air.

They played other games. They could have slipped up in this one. That said, when you dilute the tournament this is going to happen.

I was referring more to the OFC being a mickey mouse zone and qualification direct from there is a joke.
The OFC has 13 members, 11 of which are full members and two which are associate members not affiliated with FIFA.
OFC is predominantly made up of island nations where association football is not the most popular sport,

Personally I think every federation should have at least one qualification berth.

NZ should join Asia, then Oceania winner becomes a play off against, for example, a CONCACAF qualifier
