Well, there seems to be overwhelming support from the number of clubs applying to join. Must be a good path for them, I guess? Having so many clubs to choose from would be healthy for the changes FSA want to make. But yeah, interesting times. Can't wait to see how it all looks.Redflag1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 9:21 am The clubs that do go, how long will they survive in Federation?
Wait and see the junior fees triple, it might just be a death wish for some clubs especially the ones that want to remain in amateurs as well.
Where are they going to get the extra players, qualified coaches from? Pitch useage, wear and tear.
Interesting times.
All seems a bit rushed to me and not well thought out.

The SAASL brainstrust might have to convene to review their guidelines on who is eligible to play in next season's traditional pipe opener, the Chickenman Cup!

Word on the street is that scoreline is not exactly accurate, and that the home team have added a few extra goals to help their goal difference.

The Andrews Farm C grade is largely made up of guys that have never played soccer before at all - they are cricket players.
I hear they kicked off with 9 on the park, and picked up some injuries before 'reinforcements' were able to arrive after playing B grade games elsewhere.
I think Westwood and Athelstone are genuinely good teams, playing against some genuinely bad teams.

I think it's an attempt by the SAASL committee brains trust to make sure that everyone still recognises there is a capital A in Amateur!!

Re: 2024 season
South Coasts home ground is actually a 10km drive away - So they need to head even further south, from Hackham Sports Complex. South Coast also forfeit a Cup game against Beograd last year claiming they had no players available to play Sundays.edenhazard wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 11:35 am 4 matches for thec up semi finals all at port noarlunga. some seriously poor decision making

Re: 2024 season
Your guess would be wrong, I'm expecting a reasonable crowd at a decent complex. Geez , they come down South once in a blue moon and the moaning starts.
Re: 2024 season
Well, if the southern teams lifted their game a bit, they might get some more games scheduled down there. However, when the vast majority of teams competing on such a show case day are from the north or metro, it doesn't seem like an ideal choice of venue - certainly will only attract the competing clubs' die-hard supporters; can't envisage too many neutrals making the trip.

Re: 2024 season
Seaford, Noarlunga, Knights and Cove have more than "lifted their game" considering their amateurs are part of federation clubs competing in SL2 and now SL1. Some people love to have a whinge. When the SAASL sent out feelers for clubs with an EOI to host the Semi Finals, maybe more than 3 or 4 clubs should've applied to host the day.Farpost wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 10:50 am Well, if the southern teams lifted their game a bit, they might get some more games scheduled down there. Complaining about travel for one day when the majority of teams competing barely travel at all, barring a Pirie trip and one venture to Hackham, seems pathetic. If you believe the crowds will be impacted due to travel, maybe have a word with your supporter base.

Or maybe the League could have played it at Gepps X instead of 'celebrating 60 years' by outsourcing more work on to the clubsHatchet Squad wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 7:54 pmSeaford, Noarlunga, Knights and Cove have more than "lifted their game" considering their amateurs are part of federation clubs competing in SL2 and now SL1. Re: 2024 season
given 3 of the 4 teams are Saturday sides, would have thought it was to be played on a Saturday.
