The pointy end of the season has come around quickly, and the first round of season-defining games kicked off yesterday.

There was a lot of chatter about the expectation of this game being a lot closer than last year's 8-0 result between these two sides, and with 6-7 of the players on each side featuring in this match last year it would be interesting to see who was most up for it. Perhaps the last gasp win to finish 9th last week motivated Uni as they looked quite comfortable throughout the match, and Vista with some nerves seem to not find consistent rhythm. 2-0 is still a lot closer, and perhaps the gap between the bottom of WNPL and top of WSL is narrowing.

FSA NTC 1 WT Birkalla 3
NTC started red hot but an own goal completely stunted their momentum and Birkalla fully capitalised. 2 goals that easily stretched NTC meant it was going to be a tall task, however given Birkalla's leaky defence in the regular rounds you wondered if NTC could get back into it. Unfortunately there were no consistent chances created until late on and by then it was a formality.

Preliminary Final
Adelaide Comets 0 Salisbury Inter 1
A horror start for Comets to go a goal down in the first min, a mistake proving costly. From there they probably had the balance of things but similar to last week struggled to convert. A lot of their chances seemed to come from distance, testing Comley out from range, without luck. Inter with another clean sheet show that they have pedigree in this late swing of the season.
