No such place as the Midlands, they're northerners.

The North starts when you cross the Thames.

Some will say it's once you get past the M25. Some say Watford Gap services.

I agree, anything below Scotch Corner is South. So to me Old Master is a Southern Jesse

The Eastern Suburbs are separate to the rest of Adelaide, we're a richer version of the Midlands. :P

So now they'll be dirty, oily Leeds.

Would have preferred Derby, but congrats to Villa on promotion.

He was always going to end up there sooner or later and I reckon Terry won't be far behind him as his assistant. Might want one more year playing EPL first.

Battle of the Midlands won by Villa IMO the better of the two sides over 90 minutes but that howler from the Derby keeper didnt help.

Most probably because Leeds have more potential to be a long term EPL club and their supporters are less fickle than Villa's.

Less fickle

Villa have been in the PL more recently.
Villa will be in the PL next season
In the last 15 years, Villa have been there for 13 seasons, Leeds NIL.
Villa - More league wins, more fa cup wins, more league cup wins, european cup wins, more european super cup wins.....
Villa have higher attendances

But yes, Leeds have more potential

They do have more potential as they have underachieved for so long they would be a lot cheaper to buy into and have one of the highest supporter bases outside the Premier League and more than a number already in it.

I'm not sure what strategies you use for investment but I prefer to invest in companies that have underachieved for some time and just need a capital injection and strong leadership to get them moving again.

That's an amazingly poor/risky investment strategy.I look for proven track records and the start of movement upwards. Trying to pick the bottom of the market is a losers game.

Villa have a larger supporter base so your comment about that is merely proving my point.

Leeds is a risk, Villa isn't.

Using OM's strategy, perhaps there's hope for West Adelaide yet!

No, they are in the top division. Modbury would be in line (been at the top before, came down, keep looking like they might go up, but don't. ).

Maybe Mt Barker, think of the potential there,

My point was purely as an investment/financial strategy (and the comparison made).

If I was to invest in an NPL club it would be Adelaide City, as they have been run badly for a while but all they really need is a new management structure, that is what I look for in business investment and it's never failed me yet.

The trick is to use your contacts to find out who the incoming managers will be and buy just before they take control.
