Why is this forum so slow to load compared to other forums I visit?
You can lead a horse to water but they are bloody hard to drown.

admin wrote:FootballNews started out as a software development project more than 15 years ago. The first version of FootballNews was known as SoccerNews and immediately hit a chord with local football fans. Such was the popularity of the site that the original objectives of the software development project were dropped and it simply became Soccernews.

Around 2000 we started to look at the development of SoccerNews V2. The IIS based Soccernews V1 was struggling under the load and we needed to move to a new technical platform that was better suited to handling the loads. At the same time we introduced many new innovations. It was a very substantial investment of time and money in a not-for-profit and zero revenue venture.

After over 2 years of software development the original Soccernews v1 was replaced by FootballNews v2 in September 2004. FootballNews v2 quickly jumped to the top of the list of Australian Football websites regularly ranking in the top 3 football websites.

FootballNews v2 is now approaching 10 years old. The site continues to be immensely popular though, due to changing circumstances, we no longer have the time and resources to update the front page features of the site. Further those front page features have been taken over by many other providers, such as the FFSA, as they have adopted those features on their own websites.

So it is time to start thinking about the next version - FootballNews v3. So we have created this forum to provide you with the opportunity to tell us what you would like to see in FootballNews v3 - what do you like, what dont you like.

Some key components are unlikely to be changed - for example we will continue to utilise the existing forum software - it is excellent software, very stable and has proven itself over time handling 1 million plus posts and 1 billion plus hits.

Tell us what you think and help to shape FootballNews v3.

Ok, so you've had 5 and a half years to consider - the equivalent of a Kilburn.

Any decisions?

I still haven't received my member pack including footballnews lanyard, coffee mug, keyring and car sticker showing I was a 2018 footballnews member.

Footballnews is just like an NSL team, zero community engagement.

Over the timeframe of considering FootballNews v3, the internet has continued to evolve with the younger generation having less interest in discussion style communications and more interest in video/photo platforms. The resources required to FootballNews v3 are significant and I have a lot less time available to devote to such a major project. So this project has been on the backburner.

Interesting (re younger generation etc). I would have thought that the younger generation can virtually ONLY "discuss" via social media platforms given their heads are so often buried deep in their I-phones and similar.

But I get what you're saying and cheers for the eventual response.

I've been here over that five years and only made 39 posts so I guess I am part of that younger generation.
Why is half a day at home more tiring than a week at work?
