Where was the tactical flexibility?
Weren't we supposed to play like Liverpool?
Haven't we been knocking in goals for fun during friendliest?

If Ange was in charge you would have wet yourself with a performance like that.
no I wouldn't....but thanks for answering the 1st question....

we should win our next 2 games and proceed to the knock-out phase only to come up against similar teams......persisting with a back 4 when the opposition play 1 up front, meaning our play was predictable down the flanks...maybe using a back 3 would've been the better option....oh no, wait....that would be too radical....

Arnold had success in the aleague, as he had the referees to help him.
Its a different kettle of fish in Asia, and the current Aussie squad will be found out again.

Plus the FFA gave them a free ride on the salary cap, as the club was owned by the League's owners.

Back 3 isn't radical, it's knowing when to play it.

Whole point of my argument from day dot. We aren't good enough to stick to one philosophy, each game is different requiring a different approach.

^ Exactly. Playing a system for system's sake and "bugger the opposition" reeks of arrogance and naivety.

you obviously cant detect sarcasm   ....that's my point, the previous coach was criticised for trying to add technical/formation flexibility against weaker opposition allowing us to adapt to whomever we are playing....how did we respond against Jordan????we didn't, cause we couldn't....

Arnold/Ange same old same old, although one of the two is probably more of a realist

Fact is this is probably the weakest Oz team to ever set foot into a major tournament, especially given the current injury count.

End of day its only one game and there have been a few upset results so we're not alone.

Shame we didn't hang on to the temp WC coach though - he seemed to grasp getting the best out of what he had using whatever formation was needed.

The fullbacks played so high it was pretty much a back 3 with the centre backs splitting and Milligan dropping deep to get easy ball.

Do you even watch the games?

I am just watching Thailand vs Bahrain and thinking how poor a standard the Asian teams throughout this tournament. I actually think Aus played well and with luck, and they get through to the later stages, they will be more than competitive. Japan and S Korea were lucky. I have not watched Iran and they appear the form side.

Kruse on the bench against Palestine. About BT. Luongo also there, a bit disappointed there but 2:0 up at the moment and playing well.

These must be the 'Mickey Mouse' teams that Sutton was talking about - but they'd wipe the floor with Celtic.

Our offside count fell dramatically so did the easy ball giveaway diminish. You can only beat who is in front of you.
