Div 1

Post by brushmancity »

So it looks like Div 1 this year might comprise of;
Adelaide Uni.
Cumberland.
Stirling.
Metro Women's.
Salisbury United.
Western Strikers.
Birkalla.
Modbury Vista.
Modbury Jet.
White City
What do people think of this?

you left out Flinders - take out Metro and A Uni gives you 9 teams ? I thought Div 1 was for clubs who get relegated / promoted to WNPL ?

Brikalla walking straight into Div 1??

Sad to see 4 teams from last years State League no longer there. We knew the problems at Croydon, but PHK, Campbelltown, and Jaguars not staying in this league?

I doubt that is the composition of the division given what has previously been distributed, and the competition rules of the FFSA.

Forgot Jaguars - they would be there that would make even number 10 teams

Campbelltown are in. Not sure about Jags. PHK team folded last I heard.

thank you nathanburns15 - do you think it is a good idea having WNPL teams in division 1 ?
what happens if Ade Uni or Metro get relegated from WNPL ?

Div 1 was set in October (Wendy Carter sent an email to all clubs listing the teams who made WNPL and Div 1 on the 8th). The 10 clubs then went to a meeting with the FFSA to discuss the new structure and if reserves team was feasible.

Unless any team has pulled out recently the teams in Div 1 are:
Jaguars,
Adelaide Uni,
Campbelltown,
Cumberland,
Flinders,
Metro,
Modbury Vista,
Salisbury United,
Stirling and
Western Strikers.

I don't think many from Cumberland's WNPL side stayed on so in this scenario Cumberland's Div 1 side will be majority of the players who got relegated from Div 1 last year.

If Uni or Metro got relegated from WNPL, I would assume their Div 1 side would drop to Div 2 and their WNPL squad would take their place in Div 1.

WNPL is due in the next week I believe. For Divs probably a month or two at least.

This is the 10 teams in the Division 1 league for 2019

Some teams have dropped down from the collapse of State League, Some have remained in the comp and some have been promoted.

Stirling Districts
Modbury Jets
Flinders Flames WFC
Metro United
Adelaide Uni
Western Strikers
Campbelltown City SC
Salisbury United
Cumberland
Jaguars

There is no White City, Modbury Vista, Salisbury Inter and Para Hills Knights
This division has been locked in since the end of last year ; unless clubs are unable to meet their requirements of fulfilling a team.

nathanburns15 I think you will find last seasons Div 1 side ( Cumberland ) you speak about are not playing anymore, from my understanding they have given the game away.
I am told new coach has new players will be a very different looking senior playing group season 2019. stay tuned.

Surely ‘new players’ have come from somewhere- clubs can’t just conjure players to play at that level or to challenge for promotion...
