It was a penalty - please don't tell me it wasn't. I genuinely thought it was nailed on.
It was clumsy but the rules don't differentiate on how the foul was committed!
I agree that it was poor defending and clumsy by Sakho, but it was a dive to exaggerate the minimal contact. Is that a foul? Would that contact have brought him down in the centre circle? Never in a million years, but in the modern game they're given and all players do it. TBH it saddens me that it's becoming a non contact sport, it's not the game I grew up with.

Couldn't argue with the red card though and overall I thought Liverpool fully deserved the win.

Just don't go on about Dele Alli being a diver, Salah's just as bad
Alli needs to 'dive' when touched though...hasn't he been booked for simulation.

Exaggeration is poor, but as you say it's the game now.

To me, it's a dive if the nature of the contact wasn't enough to knock you over.
Dive: noun - deliberately fall

I am not saying it's right but its professionalism. You have been fouled, and you want to make sure the ref sees it so you ensure you go over.
Also you don't have to be touched for it to be a foul, if a player intends a dangerous tackle but misses, it's still a free kick/penalty.

And the rules allow diving, not simulations.

Essentially in your world, contact is a foul then?

Sadly yes. That is the rule/guideline/interpretation these days.

So why, when you have exactly the same level of contact in the middle of the pitch, is that not given as a foul as well?

It's ludicrous refereeing to have one standard in the centre circle and another in the box and I think they are largely to blame for the diving epidemic in football.

So true. Another bugbear of mine is the amount of times a corner is swung in, only for the ref to "find" a foul on defending team when usually they are the ones grabbing shirts or rugby-tackling.

Their backline looks championship at best and having Mark Noble running about like a headless chicken leaves too much gaps in the midfield. Arnautovic is their only hope of staying up imo and if/when the fans get restless like they did last season it will go up in flames.
They have played one game against the most potent front three in the league.
They will be fine.
You wouldn't call Bournemouth's front three the most potent ever seen

Mind you, BradMUFC hasn't got much to shout about after their Glory, Glory performance at Brighton
Mourinho needs to get out the club asap, he's moaning because he wasn't given the funds (40-50m) to buy one big name player yet can't even beat Brighton with the current players at the club. West Ham fans are already getting a bit agitated two games in and rightly so, they've changed their tone since the big pre-season results they had against aston villa and ipswich. They really have to try and at least get a draw this week to pick up some momentum, because they have everton away, chelsea and man u at home coming up

Oh boy, I just sat through Newcastle v Chelsea, what a terrible 90 minutes. The only good bit was when the the ex Goon Giroud viciously attacked Yedlin's elbow.

The Fulham and Watford games were OK to watch and I'm not sure how Capoue stayed on the pitch after that foul right in front of the ref.

Hell, big trouble for ManU & the Not-so-Special One.

Moura’s second goal was a beauty.

United got pretty much every decision from Pawson and still couldn't score. Every time Pogba falls over it's a foul, he's super talented but soft as shite, nailed on penalty for Moura not given.

How about Dele Alli staying on his feet after he was fouled by De Gea? Should have gone down, won a penalty and had De Gea sent off.

Moura is a revelation for Spurs, how long has he been there as I don't recall seeing his name last season?

And where is the Korean lad Son, is he injured?

Asian Games, needs to be there and needs them to do well to avoid having his Spurs contract effectively torn up.

I thought that they just rest him for the small games.

Apparently if they don't win a trophy he will have to do national service in Korea, great incentive.

I think it's reach the final and he will get an exemption.

There is a petition in South Korea of people offering to double and he gets the exemption.

Classic Jose in his presser the other day, it had me thinking with his 3 times comment,
i know Pep is one of the other 2 coaches he was referring to having won the league, who is the other current coach?

As usual, its all about Jose. His deflection attempts are getting worse. I doubt anyone doesn't respect him for his achievements, but it shows that fine line about manager's worth when matched to player budget available. Let's see him do a West Ham job (for example) and see how good a manager he really is.

I read yesterday that if Korea wins the Gold Medal all the players will be eligible for the exemption, apparently, any Korean sportsperson who wins a Gold in any major international competition gets an exemption from Military service.
