Mega, in your opinion, why is the quality of our Socceroos players so poor?
compared to whom???
Spain, Germany, Brazil, USA, Canada, NZ, Japan, Iran
remember to compare like for like.....
realistically, one could write a thesis
Compared to Socceroos from 10 years ago
Mega?

Viduka, Bresciano, Grella, Kewell et al were no better than what we have now? FFS, we still rely on cahill to get us results.
Why do you think this is?

Re: I'll be accepting your thanks
what makes those players better??? is it the teams they played for or the leagues they played in? Mooy just scored against Manu and was adjudged BOG - does that make him on par with Viduka, Cahill and Kewell???
for what its worth, something ive thought about is the absence or the very small number of coaches at club level who learnt the game and in many cases played at a reasonable level overseas and bought with them via migration their skills and knowledge.
Viduka, Bresciano, Grella, Kewell - those players might have been the last lot of players coming through in the 80's who were exposed to those coaches.
today, everyone in an internet expert coach.

Yes, Mooy would probably make that squad. On par with the ones you mentioned, it's say no.MegaBonus wrote:what makes those players better??? is it the teams they played for or the leagues they played in? So the coaching back then was better than now. Am I understanding you correctly?

No, you've made an "accusation", back it up.
It's pretty obvious to anyone with a football brain that there's more to a game than 1 formation.

back up you statement why you believe it shouldnt be the only formation taught at junior/youth level......you were pretty adamant that it shouldnt...why not???
agree...can you quote anyone who has said that? It's pretty obvious to anyone with a football brain that there's more to a game than 1 formation.

To be a rounded footballer, you should fully understand many aspects of the game. What happens when a kid plays his first senior game and he's not playing in a 4-3-3 and he has no idea how to play his role?

Re: I'll be accepting your thanks
As I have said that should be down to the club the person is with. They obviously need to understand the formation relevant to a senior side by a time they may need to step up tp a senior side.MegaBonus wrote:God is an Englishman

I'm actually shocked that someone who claims to understand the game seems to think that only one formation should ever be played.

Don’t get distracted by dogma, the system currently operating here can’t even come close to replicating the key fundamentals of talent identification and competitive environments in place practically the world over. Don’t know coz I wasn’t here but I can guess something that’s changed here between the 1990s and now, for clubs juniors no longer exists solely for the function of development.

As I said, SEEMS TO THINK
So, if you coach other formations - you agree with me and are arguing for the sake of arguing then.

Re: I'll be accepting your thanks
It's a very good formation and I do like it (if played correctly) but that shouldn't mean it's the ONLY formation and certainly not the only formation a kid should learn.
OK....these are your words....what should kids learn and when should they learn it.....still waiting to hear from you!!!!!!!!

You're changing the questions now, so it's a new set. You can't say my answer will determine yours when you've already made the comment that I'm "that type of parent".MegaBonus wrote:you haven't....answering my questions will determine how i'll answers yours....

You need to be more specific because I don't really have the time to explain to you what gets coached at every age and how we should coach it. The FFSA run some courses though that may help you out.MegaBonus wrote:i already have.....the fact you cant answer my question makes you one of those parents....
