Coutinho - good but not that good surely?
Ok the market has been thrown completely by the (more) ridiculous fee paid for Neymar.
Whilst he is obviously a very talented player and very valuable to Liverpool is he worth that much?
He is Liverpool's best player so I think if Liverpool sell him it shows that they have sunk further in their esteem and surely can no longer be considered a power?
For Liverpool fans, I know you find it difficult but please try and be subjective and take off your red tinged glasses and often ridiculously one eyed bias.

Stop trolling
Utd sold Ronaldo, are they not a power?
Chelsea are selling Costa
Players move for $ - nothing to do with who they are leaving or going to.
Neymar proves the point of the above

Like i said, just for a second, take your red tinged glasses off!
I think he's a great player but he is the best player and would Liverpool still be able to challenge at the top level without him? Could they replace him and still contend? Especially given injuries to Lallana etc
The point is that you barely kept pace last season with him, where would it leave you without him? If Liverpool relent and sell what does it say about them?

When he was fit and on form we were clear second in the league. The point is that you barely kept pace last season with him
He gets injured - we don't win a league game
He loses form - we hardly won a league game
He then re finds form - we had a strong finish and we were 4th.

So if you sell him you slip back even further.....
You obviously can't afford to sell him.
If you do what does that say about your club?
What does his impact on the side say about the rest of your club?

So in a topic that was designed to garner discussion, genuinely, about not only Liverpool, but the wider issue of massive transfer fees you have taken offence to the Liverpool part and not look at the wider picture. Typical of you moronic Liverpool fans who still think the football world revolves around them.
I don't actually care what you think of me nor anything else and your opinion to me now is irrelevant as you have contributed nothing and I pity anyone else who may try and have a grown up conversation including differing opinions with you.

I agree. I can't believe that a thread with a Liverpool player mentioned in the title and talking about the transfer fee of a Liverpool player has the victims talking about a Liverpool player.Old Redback wrote:So in a topic that was designed to garner discussion, genuinely, about not only Liverpool, but the wider issue of massive transfer fees you have taken offence to the Liverpool part and not look at the wider picture. Didn't you make his point? You struggle without him as such it's a massive problem if he goes. Also given Barcelona's performance this morning I think they will make sure they get himNicky_Tanner wrote:you clearly have no idea do you?Old Redback wrote:Like i said, just for a second, take your red tinged glasses off!

No need to speculate, Liverpool don't have a choice in the matter, he himself has requested a move from the club
And for the record conte told costa his services were not needed at Chelsea via sms while costa on international duty, all class

Of course they do he has a contract and can be held to it. Still it woulkd be good if he went just to see the bindippers go into meltdown.Kosta Utd wrote:Nicky_Tanner wrote:I am not wasting my time speculating on what may happen. Re: Coutinho - good but not that good surely?
With their solid back line and world class attack they’ll be fine. Anyways along with Van Dyke I think the Saints have Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Redmond & Sims good to go by now.

technically you are correct but what is the point of keeping a player that doesnt want to be there.. issues you will face include
1. you wont get the best out of the player
2. an unhappy player can cause further disruption within the team
3. at some point they will leave, better to get $$ while you can than have them leave on a free transfer

Re: Coutinho - good but not that good surely?
Liverpool certainly lacked much in the way of creative genius in the first half against Watford and there were not that many inspiring moves in the second half really, given the opposition.
Firminio rarely looked interested in the first half either and only got into the game a handful of times in the second.
I know he is brilliant at times but I'm not a huge fan as he's not anywhere near as influential when Coutinho's not playing.

I do praise quite a few players actually if you read my posts, and I have certainly never claimed to be a great player, just a reasonably good one who did as well as he could and went as far as he could - that's a lot different to what you are accusing me of.

Still stunned at the money players are going for Coutinho now rumoured 136 million quid, VVD 70m, Kyle Walker 50m, Gylfi 50m (seems 'reasonable' in comparison to Coutinho by his numbers! - cue Tanner going into meltdown)
Mbappe money is astronomical!!!!!

That should be true for all of us, yet I am the one who keeps getting slagged off for mentioning anything about my career, yet others, like you, seem to think only they have the right to talk about their prowess, or lack thereof.
God help them if anyone who was really successful came on this forum.

Not worth the amount of money Braca is willing to pay for him, but if you have got it, why not.
Liverpool should just take the money and run.
so how many games has coutinho played for the reds in 2017/18?

I never had a career - was never paid to play, and never said I did. Except for OM, who has played at the top level? He is the only to have told us.

Re: Coutinho - good but not that good surely?
Giae has made reference to his 'playing ability' on a number of occasions, as have many on this forum over the years, but it appears that, as I am the only one that appears to have played at a high-ish level, I am targeted as some sort of braggart - it was over forty years ago and short lived, as I have often stated, and so I have only ever mentioned it to illustrate where I got my experience from to make my points and to explain how I made the contacts I now have in the game here and overseas.Nicky_Tanner wrote:I never had a career - was never paid to play, and never said I did.
