Quite easily if the team goes and registers him after training once and he never goes back or plays a game.
If this comment refers to an FFSA player then it is not the club's responsibility to register players, the onus is on the player to do it. An FFSA club cannot register a player without their knowledge and agreement to do so.

The way this league is run is true to its name - Amateurish - what is the mischief in playing a player that never played 1 second this year for the FFSA team and besides I thought FFSA and SAASL didn't recognize each other's jurisdiction ??

but if he signs the registration forms wouldn't he know he is registered?

unless the papers never made it to association headquarters

Maybe that is the difference currently

SAASL club can register a player without the players knowledge especially if the club pays for the registration upfront
FFSA club requires the player to register through Myfootballclub

What is to stop someone doing that for another person?

easy if they have not been registered in myfootballclub before, we did this when forced to register 7 year olds just to play some futsal, one parent has gone into ffsa system since and we just passed the details to them.

think they need to know ID, name and DOB to do it on someones account and even then would also need to know their password if they been in the system before.

Just because it's not their responsibility doesn't mean it doesn't happen or isn't possible. I would suggest that most federation players do not register themselves.

I'll put a lot of money on the fact that in reality that doesn't happen.

Clubs in FFSA also register players. Almost a third the players at one club (first team) I was involved with were registered by the club secretary, these player email addresses were all his too.
So it is possible he wasn't aware of being registered.

i know what you are saying but you cannot safe guard against people being people

as other posts mention, club officials register players on their behalf, all using the same email so it is filtered through one person. and also to make sure they are all registered! leaving it up to players is a nightmare.
Im closer than you think

It's ridiculous that a player could be registered for a club without his knowledge. Would it be logical to have a system where every club has each player sign a hard copy rego form for the clubs' records plus evidence the player has physically registered for a club. Then the clubs register their players online for the association’s records etc.
