Oz Cricket "crisis"
I don't have ashes tickets, but hoping I'll get a corporate box for day 3 or 4... IF IT GOES AHEAD!! FFS, sort it out. Stubbornness at its best.

If it's not resolved in five days call it a draw.

Re: Oz Cricket "crisis"
Why would the Ashes not happen? Surely they can find 11 aussies to play a game. If not, they have to forfeit. Would be a sad way to retain them.

Re: Oz Cricket "crisis"
What concerns me with this is that they might get some of the old guard out of retirement. A team with McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist, Bomber in it would be a scarier proposition than the current convict side.

And if it does happen I will merely tell you to look at the wording of what I said.

Re: Oz Cricket "crisis"
Not really. The A tour and the Bangladesh tour are mere pawns in the game to try and show they're serious. This will not get to a serious level until it truly threatens the Ashes series.

Bottom line there's a lot of pig-headed attitudes coming from both sides. How much longer till someone decides, ok, lets sit down and work out a compromise? Big egos never like to clash heads and lose.God is an Englishman wrote:Not really. The A tour and the Bangladesh tour are mere pawns in the game to try and show they're serious. Re: Oz Cricket "crisis"
The media are saying that this is the first tour called off by Australia. Bangladesh and Pakistan don't exist anymore apparently.
Why didn't they just send a team of players who wanted to go?

Wouldn't that have upset what negotiations are happening if some player go off to play and ignore the situation?God is an Englishman wrote:The media are saying that this is the first tour called off by Australia. Bangladesh and Pakistan don't exist anymore apparently.

it would also have shown the players that the board aren't going to accept their crap and won't give in to blackmail.Cooper wrote:Wouldn't that have upset what negotiations are happening if some player go off to play and ignore the situation?God is an Englishman wrote:The media are saying that this is the first tour called off by Australia. It seems from the outside to be a complicated issue and both sides are being greedy. From what ive read about it I'm more on the players side and a firm believer of if it aint broke don't fix it.

Re: Oz Cricket "crisis"
My understanding is that the players were offered a pay rise but they turned it down and what the same base salary but a larger slice of the pie.Cooper wrote:This is true.

And so they should get a bigger slice of the pie, without the players, their isn't a game!
The AFL had to bend over and listen to the demands of the AFLPA, Cricket Australia will eventually do the same

Or maybe they don't and they make them go out and get real jobs and see how long they come back begging to play for their country again.Wayne Kerr wrote:God is an Englishman wrote:My understanding is that the players were offered a pay rise but they turned it down and what the same base salary but a larger slice of the pie.Cooper wrote:This is true.

Re: Oz Cricket "crisis"
Not sure why shield players should be seeking big bucks. They draw no crowd, its not a full time job (unless they get into IPL, County Cricket etc) so why they need big bucks is a bit puzzling. If you're any good, you'll get picked for Australia and wage will go up naturally like in most businesses when you rise the corporate ladder.

There was no CA would send a squad of rebel players that would make it worse, and in addition no current cricket players would go.Cooper wrote:Wouldn't that have upset what negotiations are happening if some player go off to play and ignore the situation?God is an Englishman wrote:The media are saying that this is the first tour called off by Australia. Losing to Bangladesh won't exactly fix the 'crisis' either.
