Training this Thursday Socceroos day

Post by Chocco »

For the benefit of everyone seeing the Socceroos live, should all clubs cancel training for Thursday allowing everyone to get to the game?

Personally I would have liked the FFSA to encourage all clubs in all age groups to cancel training.

Should be a decision for each club and coach to make. My son doesn't train on Thursdays but he would have chosen to train instead of going to this game.

That is really sad that some people don't rate the game.
This is the best 23 players from Australia and if your child is ever able to represent their country then you should consider this to be an absolute honor.
No wonder they often leave SA off for the major games.

I think you'll find the people who are not interested are English. My Son supports an English team and has no interest in going to the game either.

I've lost interest in the world cup in general. It will be forever tarnished.

Its a personal decision whether to go and watch Socceroos or not.
Considering they don't come to Adelaide very often its a good opportunity for those interested.

Whether coaches should cancel training or not it depends on how many intend to turn up. Some coaches have cancelled anyway to give boys a break since there are no games on the weekend. Some boys need the break due to the number of midweek games, recovering from injury, etc.

I'd say, Russia and Qatar.

I haven't lost interest because of off the field issues.

No problem with Russia as host - did a good job of Olympics in 1980.

The same corruption that got Qatar in, got Russia in. I guess aussies only care about the ones that stopped them getting it though.

Has the FFSA issued free tickets to registered junior players?

It's not a sellout so give something back to the kids, and being fairly assured of nearly every child bringing a parent along...it gets more bums on seats.

It's the national team, the FFA could be handing tickets out to FFSA players and clubs, just as 20 or so free Adelaide United tickets used to be handed out to clubs for junior players for some home games.

I think you will find most clubs got a hand out of tickets, be it a March, small sided at half time, ball boys etc. and the difference is that the children get in free but the guardian has to pay.

If your kid does one of those roles at Adelaide united, you get given one adult ticket as well.

I don't have a problem with Russia hosting the event. At least they have qualified for it in the past.

I knew that would be your answer. Same corruption though.

I too, know why you have an issue with Russia hosting it, but would be happy to see it go to country who has never hosted it before than one who has.

It's obvious which one I would prefer to have got it but not to be this time - 2026 it is. The first one in Europe for A LONG TIME.

However, people seem tojump on the corruption that got Qatar it but leave Russia well alone, I wonder why.

Corruption to some extent was probably involved in many WC finals allocations, its just that at least Russia have the facilities, the infrastructure, have qualified many times before and seem to be apt at holding a tournament during the desired June/July period.
Qatar doesn't tick anywhere near enough boxes, hence the difference.

This is not Adelaide United game, it is a International. I am happy with the situation. Hopefully it will be a great game, Australia wins with Troisi scoring a brace and all the kids at school tomorrow are talking about it.(except the ones that went to training instead of the game that is)
