We shouldn't concede a goal in that group.

Myanmar have improved as a footballing nation. But as you say it really should be a breeze.

You'd bloody well hope so. This group is akin to what we would have gotten in Oceania.

Another big win but given the opposition should have been expected.

As long as the lads don't lose to Myanmar they will qualify for the AFC U23 championships. Although even if they do lose narrowly they'll still be a good chance of making the tournament as the top 5 second placed sides qualify as well.

So the lads have qualified. 5-1 win over Myanmar who were the 2nd strongest side in the group.

So that means Australia makes the AFC U23 Championships in Qatar next year in January and the top three placed sides qualify for the Olympics!

Pretty decent squad there.
Nice to see the euro lads coming in. Especially Degenek who I think has been of interest to Croatia, who he can also represent.

Who is Taggart playing for now - I thought it was Ross County but he's not on their 1st team list?

20 January 2016

Draw for the AFC U23 championship has been announced.
Not a terrible group. UAE should be the toughest test.

This tournament is also qualifying for the 2016 Olympics. The two nations that make the final and the third place play off winner all make it to Rio.

True it is a good squad. Finally some young proven scorers coming thru. I think UAE will be the toughest test. We should progress.

Bad start. 0-1 loss to UAE with the lone goal coming in the 85th min from a Gallifuoco own goal.

The Olyroos dominated possession at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha, but they couldn't make their 59 per cent count in a match which offered few chances.

Oh, hell. Can't slip up against Jordan now or we're out. Would be such a shame again, after not being on the main stage at the 2012 London Olympics.

I'm still surprised Viddie kept his job after bombing out so ineptly from the 2012 campaign not even scoring a goal in the group stage. Surely if the same thing happens 4 years later with a totally new squad he's gone.

No! Not AGAIN!

The game misses out on raising it's profile in this country AGAIN by the National Team not being at the Olympics party.

Could never understand how Viddie is still in the national team set up. He is a horrible coach.
