Well that's really where this current side started - Uni SA Comets.

On the CSL forum a Executive CSL Committee member stated the CSL had been approached by an FFSA Club to enter a team.

I hadn't heard about Comets but have heard two Saturday Amateur sides were going to move across.

They must've saved a fair bit of money up to want to splurge quadruple the fees on a CSL spot and have lower quality refs.

Cost of entering a team and fees are pretty similar to the SAASL... Can see a few moving over who want to to 'align' with the FFSA......
Refs are no worse than the SAASL either and no club refs for the B's or lower...... not that I miss them club refs :0

about 1/3 less than that.

then how much to enter a team ?

then what about the difference in quality ?

then what about the difference in interest ?

Enter a team is around $150 - $200 from memory.
SAASL Sunday Div 1 is the best amateur comp in SA. But Saturday Div 1 is comparable to CSL. Standard would be similar. CSL Div 2 standard however wouldnt be near SAASL Div 2.
All CSL games are appointed a FFSA ref (most cases) - but not relevant for 1st teams.
Interest would be with Sat clubs who see value in being affiliated with FFSA etc.

FFSA rego is $62.00 / $4.50 is a CSL future fund.

So the difference between FSFA and SAASL is $25 per player.

FFSA clubs / players have access to all new facilities like Adelaide Shores etc.

Registration through myfootball.

Football Family member which can give you discounts to tickets and priorities.

FFA Cup entry.

You support Australian Football with your rego.

If none of that interests you then staying in SAASL is a good option.

Its a pity the 2 cannot work together. But that is another story.

Why would you want access to a non grass pitch at west beach - plenty of decent other facilities around.

My football - this one might get me as I struggle to sign a form.

Priority tickets - if I caress about that I'd be a member of the club I wanted access to.

FFA Cup - how many collegiate teams played in that?

Supporting Australian football - many others ways to do that

Really sensible post

Saasl have always seen the Saturday comp as second class citizens, dont
Know why more Saturday top 3 div clubs look at this option.

Couldn't agree more Steve #4....
Having played in both comps and having no axe to grind with either, The CSL comp in Div 1 especially offers a good, competitive and well run league.
I can see movement from Saturday SAASL into this comp over the next few years but not sure if it would be more than a handful as loyalty to the SAASL is strong for most of the established clubs.
The Fed clubs with amateur teams may see this as the full alignment with the FFSA that they didn't have in the past as the CSL comp has grown in depth, strenght and maturity over the last 3 years to be a viable option (it wasn't an option for them a few years ago).
The CSL offers that FFSA affiliation without the bureaucracy that Fed football has.
As said by many, shame they can't play together better as it could be a great Saturday comp for Adelaide...

Apparently you can send players from your fed team to your csl team and vise versa.....is that true or not?? And this is the main reason comets are going over from what I hear....

how did the celebrations go??????????

BTW - youre being modest....the ROCSC will give most Sun Div 1 teams a run for their money....

That is correct .... might see more Federation Clubs in the SAASL make the move to CSL for this reason

I dont think it will work like that exactly. Movement will be allowed but not on a weekly basis. 1 week Fed / 1 week CSL.

Rules will be put in place and the 30th June rule in regards to final registrations will still apply.

Will be interesting to see if any SAASL teams come over. If Comets is coming over then I think it will suit their setup.

Adelaide High would be a good option if they play their games at the ground near the school.

Big day out. Won the Div 5 title and the Div 1 title on the same day.
Few sore heads but well do it all again at the end of season in two weeks!

Don't know about that - but wouldn't mind having a game against a SAASL Sun Div 1 team at some stage.

To link in with the Feds side, greater access to players and also that they are left to fend for themselves. They think that will change in the schoolboy league.
