Vlaar's Penalty Possible A Goal

Post by swannsong »

Interesting video going around on facebook showing that the Vlar penalty actually rolled back toward the goal after the save and may (I stress may) have crossed the goal line !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX2AfxFelj4

Looked at another video, Vlaar seems to notice, watches and then his head goes down...so probably didn't cross ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpqM3-qCOX0

Another angle suggest he may have slightly touched the ball before it spun back toward the goal line...

I don't think it have changed the final result anyway.
The older I get the better I was.

Not being a goal down after the first penalty is a huge confidence booster.
It would have gone to an extra kick...who knows...however, on looking at other angles, don't think it went in and he might have slightly touched the ball also.

He'd have an opinion on the colour of GK's tops, surely!

The attacker can only touch the ball once, so once it hit him in the shoulder it becomes void and doesn't count

Interesting - any touch was slight and the ball drops straight back down - so what is it that makes the ball roll so far towards the goal? is there a strong breeze? slope of the ground? use of "new technology" ball magnets :)
