AFL Season 2014 thread

Post by Red-4-Life »

Well, another season is here!

Round 1
Collingwood vs Fremantle
GWS vs Sydney
Gold Coast vs Richmond
Carlton vs Port Adelaide
Geelong vs Adelaide
North Melbourne vs Essendon
Hawthorn vs Brisbane
St Kilda vs Melbourne
West Coast vs Western Bulldogs

My tips: Freo, Sydney, Richmond, Port, Geelong, North, Hawks, Melbourne, WCE

Going to be a belter of a season! Top 4 will be close and there is a big logjam of teams who can make the 5-8 positions on the ladder

Not to mention the GWS....first time ever the 2 newest teams have won in the same round....

Talking about firsts....which club was first to lose to both GC and GWS?

no hate here - well played and came home strong after a slow start.

olly wines looks to have gone up another cog or 2, polec was handy and the hoff, even though he still needs a shave, played well.

daisy thomas had no influence - wonder if he'll re-find his touch.

Great to see us win by a fair bit with boak, ebert and hartlett fairly quiet. Carlton ran out of legs. I'd be disappointed with Murphy if I were a blues fan. Had a poor game again and has really struggled since malthouse took over. Walker will be ruled out for a few games as well I reckon.
Good to start the season off with a nice win at a ground where we've struggled at usually. Hoff, Wines, gray, polec, hombsch all did great. Didn't have one bad player!

Hoping his love for port will keep him here. But he would definitely have offers. He is massive for us especially with our slow starts.

Ridiculous how fit Port were... Liverpool never wanted him to leave either. Carlton should of thrown money at him, and not Daisy Thomas.

Long season for Blues fans... but it is something I predicted. Malthouse won't coach next year if we finish where I think we will finish.

Burgess did have other offers with more money (Richmond one of them) and he came to Port, I think he is very happy here.

Polec is a gun, Ollie has 11 clearances and 19/28 contested possessions...going to be a star. Westhoff very good again. Shame to see Wingard, Boak, Hammer and Ebert fairly quiet but we know if they lift, the whole team will play even better.

Pretty sure the Crows had a crack at luring Burgess, was never gunna happen though. Port boy through and through.

Unfortunately I agree with mega. He isn't an unsung here. It's well known how much he's done for us. Crows matched the cats from the look of the first 3/4. I'm watching the final quarter now. Selwood is so soft it is a joke.

off course im taking the piss.....

all credit to the power....they deserve to be where they are, but gee the Crows were off their game and yet lost by under 10 points....

we are either not ready to play 4 quarters (fitness) or burgess has the power at a different level....we were over run!!!!

Nice win last night. :D

Still dont know why North have been talked up so much. Hawks will be a better test next Friday.

Reckon Bomber Thompson needs a recliner chair in the coaches box from now on.

Well he is just the caretaker isn't he? according to the Boss of Essendon, James Hird's wife.

That's why I'm not getting carried away with the win. Hawks will be a better test although in recent years we have almost matched them, but the Buddy factor (who always played a blinder against us) killed us - he's no longer there of course.

So you probably had no problem with them being drug cheats then?

If they were drug cheats, they wouldn't be playing. They copped a punishment for dodgy practices, that's all.

But I clearly forgot you were there during 2012, knew eveything that went on etc.

I wish my headache tablet I took 2 years ago lasted as long.

Carlton v Richmond last night - wtf was it with tv director showing Martin's bikey mate in the crowd so often during the telecast? Is he new president at Richmond or something?
