Cup Round

Post by Rookie »

Under 12 Sturt defeated Metro
Under 13 Adelaide City defeated Birkalla
Under 14 Para Hills defeated West Adelaide?
Under 15 Blue Eagles defeated Eastern United
Under 16 Raiders defeated Cumberland
Under 17 Campbelltown City defeated Modbury

Well done to all the winners and bad lack to the losers, saw some photos and it looked like a great day.

Unbelievable to the see spread of teams, all 12 finalists were from different clubs.

Modbury has an excellent development model put in place. Best value for the money.

All well and good if your just looking at the annual fee, but how many shirts, shorts, socks, bags etc come with it or do they cost extra?
How many trainings each week and how long?
Any extra's during the holiday's or off season?

There's alot of variables so just looking at the annual fee alone is unfair in my opinion.

So at Campbelltown the boys start training end of January, 12s up train 3 nights a week up to the start of the season then go back to to 2 nights, 1.5 hours each session

11s down train 2 nights a week and training is for 75 minutes

Each player gets two kits, a ball and this year they got a jumper and last year they got a bag and a spray jacket

How can you judge a clubs development program or the value for money of club fees by the appearance of teams/clubs in the Junior cup?

Don’t get me wrong, I think most clubs overcharge for what they offer, and I can see what you’re trying to get at.. but using the above as a measuring stick is a bit unrealistic.

I know, but it does illustrate that $$$ paid doesn't necessarily translate into instant "success" or development. If teams are doing well without paying top dollar, it can mean that there is still value for money out there, even though facilities/coach licence levels etc may dictate otherwise.

It doesn't illustrate anything other then there is a good spread of players and coaches throughout the clubs.
It shows nothing of what money can or can not do.

How many of the "cheaper" clubs charge extra for additional training, kits or a jacket etc.

If there was any kind of exact science everyone would be doing it and it would be boring!

Find a coach that brings out the best in your child and stay with them as long as you can.

Do people still pick environments by club? Surely its about the coach? Each club probably has 2-3 coaches of high quality. Depending on what level they're coaching at, that's where you will see the clubs development taking place. Those coaches would be valuable for money, not the club as a whole. Id pay any money for a top coach, regardless of the club they coached at.

I'm sure many still do pick club environment (or location) over "status" or perceived quality of coach/s. All I'm saying is despite the vast differences in some fees, end of the day you can still be lucky and find value around the place, and not just on assumption that the most expensive is necessarily the best.

All well and good quoting cheap SL2 clubs but they are not paying NPL wages and don’t pay their coaches. I’m not saying it’s the right thing but it’s the way it is.
