Gawler, UniSA and South Adelaide are doing the same thing next season as they all had no U15’s

Yeah somebody post the 15s so we can see who the lucky clubs are that get to travel to port pirie. Pretty sure they are having a 15jpl team again this year.

Just noticed no Gawler or Cobras in any of the 15 groups despite fielding 14s in the Bs last year , unisa and strikers also have no teams from C div. unisa only going with a u16 team perhaps.

Not surprised with strikers as unfortunately the team struggled for a second year in a row. Has anybody seen the u15 jsl leagues? Are there strikers or cobras teams nominated in there instead?

Also Adelaide Victory are in the C division despite finishing 7th in the Bs last year above West Adelaide. Would a club have been asked to be dropped down if they feel that they aren't going to be as strong as a previous year?

Clubs did dropped divisions on their request last year.

Strikers are running three U16 teams next year

Wow I guess that's one 16 jpl team and 2 jsl teams. I saw that last year there was only one division in 16jsl and 2 x 15 jsl groups. I thought historically the number of clubs fielding jsl teams dropped off quite quickly after u14s but maybe they becoming more popular of late. I presume that most of the clubs that fielded u15 jsl teams in 2017 are continuing in 2018. I guess that means the player base isn't drifting off as much when boys get to 15 and 16 years old.

Still two U15 JSL and one U16 JSL leagues next season. Only two U12 JSL leagues next season despite clubs like Sturt fielding three JSL teams in that age group.

Interesting that there is only 2 u12 jsl pools. I had a look at recent past and there were indeed 3 pools for 2015/16 and 17.

Be good to see the 15 and 16 jsl divisions to see which clubs dropped jsl teams. Maybe quite a few going from u15 to 16s in 2018 or just a mighty big 16jsl division requiring a fair bit of travel.

White City wont be fielding an under 15s team (currently in A Division) would Birkalla be added back in the JPL A for a second year in a row???

Nufin. Just a question chillax. Just wanted confirmation that any new teams that enter have to start at the bottom. It was a question not a comment. Want me to put a question mark on the end of the original sentence?

What happens if a club nominated a team anticipating a squad being formed and then decides in January/February that it cannot field a team due to numbers and cancels the team?

Hopefully there is no great penalty. Would rather have a team withdraw before the season starts then field a team with not enough players and they have to pull out a third of the way through the season because they can field the team on sundays. Similar to playford this year. Give the clubs a bit of extra time over the summer to get an extra few players to make up 15.

Surely Noarlunga who finished above Birks would get first option?

why won’t White City be fielding an U15 team when they nominated that they were a few weeks ago?

Heard second hand that 4 or 5 of the white city team gone to westies for 2018. If true probably the core of last years 14 team. Reckon white city posted on the forum a month or so ago they were looking for a few extra players for ages 13 to 16 for next year. Be odd that a team in the A division couldn't attract players to fill vacant spots. Sure somebody on here would know the story.

You would think so, the ffsa would rather have a premier league club

Ouch didn't realise it was that bad. Saw that team a few years ago when they were in under 12 and they were a gun team. Its all fallen apart in a few short years. Must have had a tough year. Or they had a great coach who took a lot of players with him to a different club. Wouldn't be the first time.

FFSA want leagues of 12, 11, 10 or 8 to make sure clubs get a minimum of 18 games. They will just reduce from 12 to 11 rather than promote from the B’s leaving 9. Clubs who had a league of 9 last year only got 16 games and it was raised as an issue.

That makes sense, you can’t have families paying near 1k per year and playing 16 games where as down the road same fees but play 20 plus rounds .

Coach is coaching a younger age group at another club so couldnt possibly take the squad with him

The U12 set up looks rather messy and unequal. Play 1 round of games against teams randomly placed into groups and then re grade them into more "even" groups for the second round. If anything like this year the 1st round will produce some big results that don't help anyone.
Surely the clubs and FFSA should know what teams are at what ability and put into groups accordingly. Just beacause the results weren't public for u11 the kids all keep scores and will know who are the better teams.
Alternatively instead of the trial games organise carnival type set up where the teams can play against each other and then gauge which teams fit where.
1st week split into zones, North, south east, west and play each other ( even in a shortened time frame)
2nd week repeat zone groups
3rd and 4th week. Split teams into groups according to how the finished in the zone comp and play each other.
This would occur during February and be done in time for season start in middle of March. Or if too tight deadline just play 1 zone and 1 graded round and be done mid February

The kids would enjoy the carnivals and then make the season more even.

Carnivals would be fun. More games are good for the kids.

But having the grading is a good idea too. Better to have grading than no grading. The leagues themselves are unimportant. What matters most is the kids are placed at a level where all the games are competitive and they all enjoy playing football.

At the FFSA committee meeting last years U12 structure was seen as a massive improvement by clubs. This year will be even better as they have not zoned it which means the Traditionally stronger clubs have been spread around from the start.

Not sure how it can be seen as improvement when teams where getting double figure wins / defeats in the first round of games. Surely better to allocate the "stronger traditional clubs" together from the start to avoid complacency and risk kids losing interest with one sided results.
Understand no perfect way but possibly playing 4 or 5 tight games doesn't help the development.
