Pacific Games/Australian schoolboys U16 football championships held in Adelaide Dec 2017.
Organised by school sports Australia.www.pacificschoolgames.edu.au
South Australia boys finished runners up to NSW in the Australian Schoolboys championships, held at Campbelltown City FC ,participating teams from ACT, NSW, China, India, WA, Victoria, Queensland, and SA.
The SA boys received silver medals, with three players making the Australian schoolboy squad. Head coach was Graham Fowlie, Assistant Coach/manager Tony Burns, team leader Joe larecki.
Special thanks goes to Secondary School sports SA,FFSA,FFA, ( in line with the national Curriculum for this age group) and parents for their support throughout the tournament. Special thanks to SA Football clubs Cumberland,Para Hills,Vipers,Modbury Jets,WTBirkalla,West Adelaide,Berri River Rangers FC,Metro Stars,Adelaide City, and Raiders, where the boys normally train.
Notable past players that have represented Australia at schoolboy level are Carl Veart, Marco Bresciano,Tony Vidmar,Steve Corica,Ante Milicic, to name a few that have played professionally.
It was a close tournament with SA scoring the most goals for tallying 41, but unfortunately losing out to NSW 3-1,with SA winning 5,drawing 1 and losing one.
A lot of talented boys that will hopefully have the opportunity to develop further in their chosen sport.

What a pity it was so poorly advertised/covered in the media, both the papers and the TV, as usual when there is no afl or cricket involved.
The older I get the better I was.
