Looking towards 2018

Post by Chocco »

Let's wait and see how many things happen for 2018 that should.

How many bottom 2 teams in A and B will be relegated?
How many top 2 teams from C and B divisions will be promoted?
Will Olympic have an u16 team next year? Since they didn't have the required u15 this year.
Will West Adelaide 14B currently second bottom not get relegated?
Will Croydon u 13 A currently second bottom not get relegated?
Will Blue Eagles be protected?
Will the 2 promoted senior clubs have enough junior teams to satisfy FFSA rules?

Any other items ?

Let's wait and see.

Which clubs should be honest with themselves and nominate their team in a jsl if that's an appropriate level?  But you are saying they might have to field so-so teams in the jpl because of the ffsa rules.  Precedence been set last year when the lack of a certain team was allowed to happen so now it depends on how far clubs can get the ffsa to extract that determination and not persist with having teams in jpl that are going to get rolled by big margins every sunday. Makes more sense to not have a team or field them in an easier competition where, hopefully, the margins might be closer and the game more enjoyable for players.

Here is another one - Which clubs already have incoming junior coaches lined up who will bring players with them making the trials a illusion because they already know their team line up.  A few of their existing loyal players who have been with the club for years will be in trouble. Always intrested to see if clubs bother telling the players before the trials that if they stay at the club you will have to play in the jsl team (if there is one), or not have a position so they can make plans to trial elsewhere. Be nice to know for those kids before trials so they dont have to scramble to find a new club after trial week. Guess you always need a backup trial with a second club.

Close enough to the end of the year to make predictions on a jsl level. Just look at the bottom 2 or 3 teams in each age group and figure out which teams will struggle to exist next year. Not many wins and big goal differences probably means the end of a jsl team at the older age levels.

U13
Croydon west Adelaide plymton south adelaide

U14
Elizabeth grove (seond team) modbury jets Comets, south adelaide(second team)
cove

U15
Blue eagles croydon cove

A few big club names there that you would think should be able to fill competitive jsl teams. my guess is that the older the jsl teams become the more younger kids have to play up a year level to make up enough players for a team. Have seen a few jsl games where there is obvious size difference in the size of the players.

Be an interesting next month to see the final jpl table and upcoming trials.

14Bs is an odd numbered pool with the demise of playford. ...so i reckon only one team down and 2 up. Not 2 down and three up to make a 12 team pool. Cheers geoff9559

As far as New NPL Clubs.. South Adelaide, Sturt and Western Strikers will all have enough for all age groups as well as under 17's

Maybe someone who has seen the WA U14 team this year can answer the question - Is it doing the team much good staying in that division? 10Th last year 10th in 2017. At least they have won and drawn a few games this year.

Clubs should look at each of their teams and if they feel they are in for a tough season they should request a move. This has happened with Cove U14's this year who asked to drop to JSL and also the Adelaide Hills U15's who asked to be in the C's.
