Isn't JSL designed to develop player's for JPL?

Post by James007 »

Seeing the JSL competition the past few years and the quality of the player's in these leagues, do many club's promote from their JSL teams to their JPL?

In my experience I've seen a few player's each season go from JSL to JPL.

No, very rarely to players go up from JSL to JPL.
JPL squads usually have 15 players and the opportunities are limited.

It's more the other way that JPL players are looked at to come down and help as JSL numbers are not normally that great.

During the season it doesn't happen.

At season end, after trials, I've seen numerous players move from JSL to JPL for the new season. It does happen, probably more so at the older age groups (14,15,16,17).

Ask the club for their development guidelines / procedure.

When I was involved, we had procedures in place that ensured assessment of players in both JSL & JPL teams. Players moved in & out of both, for various reasons. The rules were explained to players & parents at trials.

It worked very well, in regards to player development. However, it was hard work with parents & sometimes coaches.

Don't know what happens now.

in my opinion it has been very rare to see players move up to JPL from JSL, previous comments have said that it is usually the other way round and that would seem to be the point.
It would seem that some clubs give players and parents the promise of promotion but are really bringing more kids in for the $$$$$$ ;-) ;-)

Some clubs have too many JSL teams, all to raise cash for their clubs.

Should only be one JPL and JSL per age group at each club.

Quite a few JSL players could walk into JPL teams at other clubs and improve the overall age competition.

Alot of clubs threaten players in the JPL to try and keep them on their toes, but really 80-90% of most JPL squads woulnt change during the year
